In this position, you'll directly impact our manufacturing process and productivity through the active research, design, modification, and testing of our production methods. You'll specify best practices around the efficient design of fixtures, tooling, and equipment that is required to manufacture the air compressor components and accessories that our company delivers around the world. Bring your past success in creating an efficient plant layout to MAT Industries that will enable our dedicated workforce to meet productivity metrics in the safest environment.

Responsibilities

  • Provide documented manufacturing methods, workplace layouts, and process flow charts
  • Establish fixture and tool requirements, design special tooling, and justify and acquire tooling and equipment necessary to simplify and control manufacturing processes
  • Support production through recommendations on assembly methods, line balance, operator training, and process control
  • Assist work teams in the improvement of the work environment and in the solution of production problems
  • Write procedures for the operation of new or existing equipment
  • Set up new equipment, ensures its satisfactory operation, and instructs others to use and maintain the new equipment properly
  • Develop processes, methods, tooling, and process controls for new products; supervises their assembly and proofing
  • Recommend incorporation of new technology for company applications where feasible and practical

Education/Experience

  • Four year technical field degree
  • Four+ years minimum experience in a varied manufacturing environment
  • In-depth knowledge of major shop/manufacturing processes including machining, metal fabrication, welding, paint, and assembly
  • Good communication – verbal and written
