MAT HD is a market leader in the re-manufacturing of brake shoes and manufacturing of new lined shoes for the medium and heavy duty market.

We are seeking a dynamic and highly motivated Director of Operations in Rome, GA or Dallas, TX the Rome to provide strong leadership so we may grow and expand or footprint in the commercial vehicle and heavy duty braking segments. 

Job Description

This position is responsible for providing leadership and direction to all the plant facilities which includes manufacturing and distribution, maximizing capital and human resource utilization in attaining production objectives of acceptable quality within established cost parameters along with distribution objectives on time in full. The Director of Operations drives Lean Manufacturing and change management initiatives throughout the facilities and implements effective Continuous Improvement programs in support of plant and customer requirements.

Principle Responsibilities

  • Working to continuously improve production operations with respect to productivity, quality, safety, inventory levels to meet customer demand, and operating expense while utilizing lean manufacturing techniques
  • Direct 4 separate plants across the US/Canada to ensure each plant leadership team is continually aligned and executing towards the company Operational Goals & objectives
  • Meet performance metrics for production operations and shipping schedules
  • Direct, report, document and plan production performance, continuous improvement activities, action plans, strategic plans and employee utilization.
  • Empower employees and develop continuous improvement philosophy throughout the team
  • Develop personnel to grow and assume greater responsibilities that fit into a succession plan for future growth
  • Maintain staff job results by training, coaching, counseling, and disciplining employees; answering grievances; planning, monitoring, and appraising performance results
  • Consult with Human Resources regarding hiring, transfer and discipline of employees as it relates to company policy
  • Evaluate financial implication of changes made in the operation, with objective of achieving maximum profitability
  • Achieve financial objectives by assisting in preparing the production budget and scheduling expenditures; compiling and studying costs; initiating corrective actions
  • Develop and ensure execution of site budgets
  • Implementing capital projects and training programs to attain volume and productivity goals
  • Maintaining compliance with all regulatory requirements
  • Promoting employee involvement/engagement.
  • Support compliance to Quality Management System and all other applicable regulations that may apply, including Environment Health & Safety requirements.
  • Prepares reports by collecting, analyzing and summarizing information and trends.
  • Communicate the plant performance and results to the team. Utilize and update visual communications on the floor
  • Keep abreast of new technologies in relevant industry  
  • Develop standard operation sheets and all applicable forms/flow charts created during the event

Qualifications

Preferred/Required Education/Skills:

  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited four-year college or university or sufficient years of experience
  • Ten (10) or more years in a manufacturing environment
  • Lean thinker, demonstrated passion and experience implementing and working in a Lean environment
  • Proven ability to develop a culture of safety and 5S
  • Proven leader with ability of driving success through daily task management and accountability.
  • Demonstrated success in leadership development and effective succession planning
  • Working knowledge of SAP a plus
  • Experience working in a TS 16949 facility
  • Experience working in an Automotive OEM orientated facility
