Our brake shoe manufacturing facility in Rome, GA. produces high quality brake shoes as well as new brake kits and lined shoes for medium and heavy duty truck and bus applications.  The business is part of the brake products group of MAT, which is a part of our presence in the commercial vehicle braking segment and complements our existing product offering in our heavy duty portfolio.

 

We are seeking a dynamic and highly motivated Plant Manager for the Rome facility to provide strong leadership so we may grow and expand or footprint in the commercial vehicle and heavy duty braking segments. 

Job Description

This position is responsible for providing managerial leadership and direction to the plant facility which includes manufacturing and distribution, maximizing capital and human resource utilization in attaining production objectives of acceptable quality within established cost parameters. The position is also accountable for management direction of the people, materials and assets of the plant for the purpose of producing assigned products according to the production plan and customer requirements. The Plant Manager drives Lean Manufacturing and change management initiatives throughout the facility and implements effective Continuous Improvement programs in support of plant and customer requirements.

Principle Responsibilities

  • Working to continuously improve production operations with respect to productivity, quality, safety, inventory levels to meet customer demand, and operating expense while utilizing lean manufacturing techniques
  • Effective leadership implementing Lean Manufacturing and change management
  • Provide Effective Leadership to ensure plant leadership team is continually aligned to accomplish the company Operational Goals & objectives
  • Drive and deploy new leadership objectives and standards while providing vision and training to accomplish these objectives
  • Meet performance metrics for production operations and shipping schedules
  • Evaluate financial implication of changes made in the operation, with objective of achieving maximum profitability
  • Manage, report, document and plan production performance, continuous improvement activities, action plans, strategic plans and employee utilization.
  • Empower employees and develop continuous improvement philosophy throughout the team
  • Develop personnel to grow and assume greater responsibilities that fit into a succession plan for future growth
  • Maintains staff job results by training, coaching, counseling, and disciplining employees; answering grievances; planning, monitoring, and appraising performance results
  • Ensure thorough production process root cause analysis and complete corrective actions are completed on a timely basis
  • Achieve financial objectives by assisting in preparing the production budget and scheduling expenditures; compiling and studying costs; initiating corrective actions
  • Identify and correct production variance from BOM standard
  • Develop and ensure execution of site budgets
  • Provide coaching and development to all members of the management team
  • Implementing capital projects and training programs to attain volume and productivity goals
  • Balancing production objectives with finished goods inventory objectives
  • Maintaining compliance with all regulatory requirements
  • Promoting employee involvement/engagement.
  • Support compliance to Quality Management System and all other applicable regulations that may apply, including Environment Health & Safety requirements.
  • Prepares reports by collecting, analyzing and summarizing information and trends.
  • Communicate the plant performance and results to the team. Utilize and update visual communications on the floor
  • Create production operations that promote customer quality and delivery satisfaction
  • Keep abreast of new technologies in relevant industry  
  • Manage production operations plant start up and shut down procedures, production equipment and alarms
  • Consult with Human Resources regarding hiring, transfer and discipline of employees as it relates to company policy
  • Incorporate new methods and processes to improve existing operations
  • Be a resource of Lean information
  • Develop standard operation sheets and all applicable forms/flow charts created during the event

Qualifications

Education/Experience: 

  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited four-year college or university or sufficient years of experience
  • Ten (10) or more years in a manufacturing environment
  • Lean thinker, demonstrated passion and experience implementing and working in a Lean environment
  • Proven ability to develop a culture of safety and 5S
  • Proven leader with ability of driving success through daily task management and accountability.
  • Demonstrated success in leadership development and effective succession planning
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office products
  • Working knowledge of SAP a plus
