Job Description
Summary Description: Primary care predominantly delivered to Medicare eligible
population. No hospital responsibilities, shared call. Monday throughFriday, no weekends.
Major Responsibilities:
- Current Florida licensure as a MD or DO.
- Board certification/eligibility in Family Practice/Internal Medicine.
- Managed Care Plans and Hospital Credentialing requirements.
- Maintains comprehensive professional liability insurance coverage (at Employer’s expense).
- Prior experience in managed care environment.
- Maintains BCLS (Basic Cardiac Life Support) Certification and all required licenses (MD, DEA) except Physician will not be required to perform CPR.
Qualifications
- Coordinates the patients’ use of services available through Pre-Paid Health Plans functioning as a "case manager”.
- Available at the office during work hours and by phone during off hours for the staff, patients and or pre-admission needs to manage/coordinate patient care.
- Utilizes the physician, facility and ancillary contracted providers within the contracted managed care organizations’ networks whenever this is feasible.
- Complies with the contracted managed care organizations’ operation requirements.
- Reviews all acute care facility discharge summaries and reports and to maintain communication directly with providers.
- Communicates with admitting physicians, and any consultants providing care to patients.
- Participates in patient education programs and activities during working hours, and after hours when not in conflict with Physician’s prior commitments and mutually agreed.
