Job Description

OHB LuxSpace is looking for motivated candidates to join our team for the exciting opportunity in the role of:

(Senior) Satellite and Space Systems Engineer (m/f/o)

For micro satellites systems engineering, LuxSpace is recruiting a Systems Engineer with 5+ years of working experience.

A Systems Engineer is required to participate in the design of our next generation micro satellites. The successful candidate’s knowledge of space systems, subsystems and equipment shall be applied for definition, coordination and implementation of all relevant tasks leading to the successful development of the LuxSpace micro satellite product line.

Typical Tasks to be performed:

  • Participate in and contribute to the development and qualification of a challenging microsatellite in a medium-sized technical team
  • Define mission and system requirements for optical Earth-observing mission
  • Support preparation of proposals to potential customers
  • Define and manage requirements for, and support verification of satellite's mechanical, thermal, electrical and/or AOCS subsystems
  • Perform satellite functional analysis and design trade-offs
  • Manage satellite internal interfaces, focusing on mechanical and/or electrical
  • Manage satellite external interfaces (payload, launcher) towards potential customers
  • Support satellite AIT (hands-on) and verification activities
  • Other tasks and duties assigned by manager(s)
  • Temporarily or permanently performing other reasonable and equivalent duties

Qualifications

Ideal Candidate Profile and Qualities:

  • Strong knowledge of systems engineering, including requirements engineering, functional analysis, verification control
  • Strong knowledge of space mission and satellite engineering, including orbital dynamics, space environment, space operations and satellite testing
  • Experience with Earth-observing optical missions is considered an asset
  • Experience in satellite and/or sub-system requirements engineering
  • Experience in technical management of sub-systems
  • Experience with space radiation environment and radiation's impact on satellite design and verification is considered a strong asset
  • Experience in one or more of the following areas is considered an asset: mechanical and thermal, electrical and power, AOCS, micro-vibration
  • Experience in satellite verification, including hands-on testing, is an asset
  • Knowledge of DOORS, STK (or similar), UML/SysML
  • Knowledge of SCOS is considered an asset
  • University degree (Bachelor/Master/Diploma/PhD) or equivalent education plus relevant proven work experience
  • Experience in systems engineering (5y+), gained in a professional position, preferably in the space industry with focus on micro satellites
  • Excellent sense of responsibility
