Job Description

OHB LuxSpace is looking for motivated candidates to join our team for the exciting opportunity in the role of:

(Senior) AOCS Engineer (m/f/o)

For space borne electronics development and ground station equipment design, LuxSpace is recruiting an experienced (desirable:10y+) AOCS Engineer.

Job Profile:

An AOCS Engineer is required to participate in the design of LuxSpace next generation micro satellites. The successful candidate’s knowledge of AOCS subsystem and equipment shall be applied for all relevant tasks leading to the successful development of  satellites in LEO and GEO up to commercial satellite projects.

Typical Tasks to be performed:

  • Development from specification to qualification of a challenging AOCS subsystem for a microsatellite in a medium-sized technical team
  • Specification of AOCS equipment, e.g. sun-sensors, gyros, star trackers, GPS and actuators
  • Derivation of algorithms for spacecraft attitude determination and control
  • Perform detailed analyses for high accuracy pointing modes
  • Define and manage requirements for, and support verification of AOCS subsystem and unit for optical Earth-observing mission.
  • Perform functional analysis and design trade-offs.
  • Manage internal interfaces.
  • Support satellite AIT (hands-on) and verification activities
  • Support preparation of proposals to potential customers
  • Supervising suppliers
  • Other tasks and duties assigned by manager(s)
  • Temporarily or permanently performing other reasonable and equivalent duties

Qualifications


Required Skills and Background:

  • General knowledge of systems engineering, including requirements engineering, functional analysis, verification control
  • General knowledge of space mission and satellite engineering, including orbital dynamics, space environment, space operations and satellite testing
  • AOCS subsystem design, testing and verification (incl. control design, analysis and simulation)
  • Knowledge of DOORS, STK (or similar)
  • Matlab/Simulink
  • C / C++

Considered a Plus / an Asset is Experience in:

  • Design of high accuracy AOCS for Earth-observing optical missions
  • Definition of pointing budgets (APE, AKE, RPE)
  • Micro-vibration and jitter analysis.
  • On-orbit AOCS operations including sensor calibration
  • Advanced control and estimation techniques
  • Satellite verification, including hands-on testing


Ideal Candidate Profile:

  • University degree (Bachelor/Master/Diploma/PhD) or equivalent education plus relevant proven work experience
  • Specific experience in AOCS engineering (desirable: 10y+)
  • Comfortable dealing with internal and external customers and suppliers
  • Good communication capabilities, analytical sense, priority setting
  • Excellent sense of responsibility
  • Structured hands-on work-approach
  • Highly self-motivated and able to work autonomously
  • Excellent problem-solving skills
  • Good interpersonal skills
  • Customer oriented thinking-approach

  • Languages: Good English skills (spoken and written) is a must, German and/or French considered an asset
