Software Engineer - Ground Software and Data - Space Industry Luxembourg (m/f/o)

In order to further reinforce and expand its project and program activities, LuxSpace is recruiting a Software Engineer with focal expertise and working experience in Ground Software and Data.

Job Profile:

LuxSpace is seeking a Software Engineer to join its Ground Software team.

The Ground Software team supports our customers to:

  • Create applications that make use of satellite and terrestrial data to create added value real time and big data solutions tailored to the customer needs.
  • Improve their simulation environments and to develop satellite’s equipment simulation models to build their validation and operational platforms.

The ideal candidate we are looking for, has a genuine interest in working in the space industry and strong will to learn how to deliver high-quality product and services in this business sector.

 

Typical Responsibilities and Tasks to be performed:

  • Translate user-level requirements from customer into software requirements and design (a direct exchange of technical information with the customer is therefore integral part of the work).
  • Implement and test software modules according to the technical specification and the applicable software standards, processes and tools.
  • Document the results of your work as per contractual agreements and applicable documentation standards.
  • Manage customer feedback and understand corrective actions to the software product to meet the customer satisfaction.
  • Report periodically to the Project Manager, status and progresses of your work.
  • Other tasks and duties assigned by manager(s)
  • Temporarily or permanently performing other reasonable and equivalent duties

 

Qualifications


Ideal Candidate Skills and Background: 

Mandatory Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science/Computer Engineering or equivalent.
  • 2+ years development experience in C++ .
  • 2+ years development experience in Python or TCL
  • Solid experience of development in both Linux and Windows environments with IDEs like Eclipse / NetBeans / VisualStudio.
  • Knowledge of UML and Object-Oriented design techniques.
  • Knowledge of the basic principles of the software engineering lifecycles.

 

Enhanced Qualifications

The following enhanced qualifications are considered as assets:

  • Experience in development of Operational Simulators on SMP2-based platforms (e.g Simsat, Rufos, Eurosim, SImTG).
  • Experience in development of ground segment software for validation and operational purposes (Cortex, CCSDS).
  • Development experience of Qt-based applications.
  • Development experience in other OO languages like C# or Java.
  • Capability to work according to tight process standards (e.g., ECSS, DO178).
  • Experience in using Matlab/Simulink.
  • Good knowledge in mathematical algorithm design and implementation (pattern recognition).
  • Big data techniques (Kafka).
  • Cloud technologies (Kubernetes, Docker, Azure or similar).
  • Database knowledge (SQL Server/Oracle/Postgres).
  • Web technologies (HTML5, JS, CSS3).
  • Experience in interactive electronic objects (Arduino, DroneKit).
  • Experience in development in Android environment.


Candidate Profile:

  • University degree (Bachelor/Master/Diploma) or equivalent education plus relevant proven work experience
  • 2+ years of work experience in industry or relevant professional environment (space, aeronautics, automotive etc.)
  • Good communication capabilities, in particular: Ability to manage communication about technical subjects with the customer in a professional and assertive manner, analytical sense, priority setting
  • Methodical work-approach, results-oriented
  • Self-motivated; taking responsibility and being proactive
  • Hands-on mentality and experience
  • Ability to work and interface with a multinational team, in particular: Share, within the working team, all information contributing to the growth of the know-how of the team: on-the-job acquired knowledge, work results and proposal for technical improvements. Accept constructive criticisms and to make them milestones of personal and working growth.
  • Willingness to work flexible in line with project needs and schedules
  • Willingness to travel
  • Languages: Good English language skills (spoken and written) are a must, German and/or French knowledge considered an asset
