Job Description

OHB LuxSpace is looking for motivated candidates to join for an exciting opportunity as:

IT Systems Engineer / System and Network Administrator & Antenna Operator

Job Profile:

Being member of a dedicated multinational team, the incumbent will contribute to the successful performance of IT systems and network services for space mission operations and general operations in aspects of System and Network Administration, Antenna Operation, as well as Hardware and Software infrastructures and Databases Management.

The position is expected to cover general operations, service operations preparation and validation, pre-launch, launch, and post-launch activities.

The IT Systems Engineer / System and Network Administrator & Antenna Operator will be in charge of executing all activities relating to networks, Hardware and Software network installation, maintenance activities, network security, and antenna stations availability management. In line with project phases, the incumbent will be as TT&C Operator responsible for all related activities to be performed. Tasks comprise the execution of all activities relating to integration, configuration, administration and operation of hardware and software in new and existing infrastructures.

Typical tasks to be performed include:

  • Participation to installations, operations preparation and validation
  • Participation in commissioning and routine phases
  • Participation to trainings
  • Contribution and active participation to system operation validation and S&R
  • Deal with operation procedures and life cycle documentation, including writing, editing and control
  • Supporting and contributing to achievement of project milestones

 

  • Managing system monitoring and processes
  • Managing technical anomalies
  • Corrective and preventive maintenance
  • Network administration, performance and trend analysis
  • Security administration, including HW and SW components
  • Network maintenance

 

  • Manage, monitor, and operate all station operations, ensuring availability and performances
  • Contribute to define operational strategies for project phases
  • Contribute to corrective station maintenance
  • Documentation update

 

  • Execution of all activities relating to HW and SW maintenance in order to ensure nominal operations
  • SW and HW problem reporting, resolving and managing new SW and HW releases
  • Maintaining SW and HW configurations
  • Preparation, execution and monitoring of device tests
  • Management and execution of general logistic aspects, such as PHST

 

  • Interfacing and collaborating with other roles as required
  • Other tasks and duties assigned by manager(s)
  • Temporarily or permanently performing other reasonable and equivalent duties.

Qualifications


Skills and Background:

  • Profound knowledge of systems, operating systems, Network configuration
  • Solid knowledge of Software and Hardware maintenance, administration and management
  • Experience in the area of TLC, TT&C and X-Band ground station operations
  • Solid knowledge of hardware and software COTS
  • Working knowledge of PHST activities
  • Confident handling of Microsoft and/or Linux operating systems
  • Specialized knowledge in such areas as networking, virtualization, Powershell, shell scripting, cloud services and other fields is considered an advantage
  • Knowledge of ITIL and/or SCRUM is considered an asset

Ideal Candidate Profile:

  • Senior Technician Technical School in Telecommunication Technical discipline degree or equivalent; or equivalent vocational education plus relevant proven work experience
  • 3 years of work experience in Network Communication Protocol and Services or relevant fields
  • Experience in project work
  • Adequate leadership and managerial skills in technical aspects
  • Willingness to learn new tools and systems
  • Excellent sense of responsibility and confidentiality
  • Structured hands-on work-approach
  • Highly self-motivated and able to work autonomously
  • Excellent problem-solving skills
  • Good interpersonal and communication skills

  • Readiness to work in a 24-hours / 7 days environment, and to perform duty in a rotating shift scheme, as per business needs
  • Willingness to travel from time to time if needed
  • Languages: Good English language skills (spoken and written), German and/or French knowledge considered an asset
