Senior AOCS Engineer - Focus on Earth Observation Missions - Space Industry Luxembourg (m/f/o)

In order to further reinforce and expand its project and program activities, LuxSpace is recruiting for immediate employment a Senior AOCS Engineer with 15+ years of working experience with focal expertise in design of high accuracy pointing for earth observation missions.

Job Profile:

An AOCS Engineer is required to participate in the design of our next generation micro satellites. The successful candidate’s knowledge of AOCS subsystem and equipment shall be applied for definition, coordination and implementation of all relevant tasks leading to the successful development of the LuxSpace micro satellite product line.

Tasks to be performed:

  • Participate in and contribute to the development and qualification of a challenging microsatellite in a medium-sized technical team.
  • Support preparation of proposals to potential customers
  • Coordinate micro-vibration related activities.
  • Perform detailed analyses for high accuracy pointing modes.
  • Define and manage requirements for, and support verification of AOCS subsystem and unit for optical Earth-observing mission.
  • Perform functional analysis and design trade-offs.
  • Manage internal interfaces.
  • Support satellite AIT (hands-on) and verification activities

Qualifications


Required Skills and Background:

  • General knowledge of systems engineering, including requirements engineering, functional analysis, verification control.
  • General knowledge of space mission and satellite engineering, including orbital dynamics, space environment, space operations and satellite testing.
  • AOCS subsystem design, testing and verification (incl. control design, analysis and simulation)
  • Experience in design of high accuracy AOCS for Earth-observing optical missions.
  • Experience in definition of pointing budgets (APE, AKE, RPE)
  • Experience in micro-vibration and jitter analysis.
  • Experience in on-orbit AOCS operations including sensor calibration is considered an asset.
  • AOCS software and spacecraft avionics
  • AOCS development for ‘New Space’ systems and small satellites missions
  • Experience in Advanced control and estimation techniques is an asset.
  • Experience in satellite verification, including hands-on testing, is considered an asset.
  • Knowledge of DOORS, STK (or similar), Matlab/Simulink


Candidate Profile:

  • University degree (Bachelor/Master/Diploma/PhD) or equivalent education plus relevant proven work experience
  • Experience in AOCS engineering (15y+)
  • Experience in at least 2 satellite design and analysis project for high accuracy EO mission.
  • Good communication capabilities, analytical sense, priority setting.
  • Methodical work-approach, results-oriented
  • Self-motivated; taking responsibility and being proactive.
  • Hands-on mentality and experience
  • Ability to work and interface with a multinational team.
  • Willingness to work flexible in line with project needs and schedules.
  • Willingness to travel for business and to be part of a collocated team for a limited time (e.g. at test facility)
  • Languages: Good English language skills (spoken and written), German and/or French knowledge considered an asset
  • EU citizenship or work permission Luxembourg
