Company Description

The General Manager (GM) will be responsible for the day-to-day running, performance, and optimization of the company’s online igaming casino operation within South Africa’s regulated market.

Reporting directly to the Managing Director, the GM will lead a multidisciplinary team to deliver operational excellence, commercial growth, and compliance integrity. This role requires a pragmatic, data-driven operator who understands how to translate strategy into scalable execution, while staying close to the technology, the product, and the customer. This is a pivotal role for an entrepreneurial leader who thrives in a fast-paced, high-growth environment and can bring structure, discipline, and innovation to a maturing iGaming business.

Job Description

Key Responsibilities:

1. Operational Leadership

  • Manage day-to-day sportsbook and casino operations including marketing, trading, CRM, payments, and customer service.
  • Develop and implement operational frameworks and processes to drive efficiency, quality, and scalability.
  • Ensure seamless collaboration between internal teams; finance, product, tech, compliance, marketing, and support.
  • Maintain operational readiness for new product releases, promotions, and platform updates.

2. Performance & Commercial Delivery

  • Own delivery of KPIs across revenue, margin, retention, and player experience.
  • Oversee forecasting, budgeting, and daily performance tracking against key metrics.
  • Identify and act on opportunities to increase player lifetime value, optimize margins, and reduce costs.
  • Work closely with the MD and Finance team to align operational execution with commercial objectives.
  • Ensure timely and accurate reporting to management, with actionable insights.

3. Compliance & Governance

  • Ensure full compliance with South African gaming regulations, and provincial licensing conditions.
  • Oversee internal processes related to AML, KYC, responsible gaming, and data protection.
  • Liaise with regulators and compliance officers to ensure smooth operational oversight and audit readiness.
  • Promote a culture of integrity and accountability across all departments.

4. Product & Technology Alignment

  • Collaborate with the Product and Technology teams to improve platform stability, user experience, and feature delivery.
  • Translate operational needs into technical requirements to enhance automation and efficiency.
  • Support product innovation by providing operational feedback and real-world market insight.
  • Stay informed on emerging technologies, market trends, and competitor developments in  iGaming.

5. Team Management & Development

  • Lead and develop cross-functional operational teams, setting clear goals and KPIs.
  • Foster a culture of ownership, innovation, and continuous improvement.
  • Mentor team leads in data literacy, process excellence, and agile execution.
  • Partner with stakeholders to build out future capability as the group scales.

6. Partner & Stakeholder Coordination

  • Manage key supplier relationships (platforms, payment providers, affiliates, and data feeds).
  • Support group-level initiatives that span B2B and B2B2B channels, ensuring operational alignment.
  • Collaborate with group exec teams to leverage shared assets and insights.

 

Qualifications

Required:

  • Minimum 7+ years’ experience in iGaming, with strong exposure to sportsbook and casino operations.
  • At least 3 years in a senior operational or management role within a regulated environment.
  • Proven expertise in player operations, platform management, and CRM execution.
  • Strong understanding of South African regulatory frameworks and compliance practices.
  • Demonstrated ability to build and lead operational teams in fast-paced, scaling environments.
  • Data-driven mindset with the ability to interpret KPIs, dashboards, and player analytics to drive decisions.
  • Hands-on familiarity with CRM, BI, and operational analytics tools

Preferred:

  • Experience working in B2B or B2B2B gaming technology businesses.
  • Proven experience bridging commercial goals with product and technology execution.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Operations, Technology, or related field.
