Based in the heart of downtown Lowell, Massachusetts Lowell Community Health Center is currently seeking a Full-Time Nurse Community Health Worker/Care Coordinator.

With over 400 employees, the Health Center has expanded and relocated to a new state-of-the-art facility as of December 2012. The Health Center is a diverse, community-based health care organization. Job Description

SUMMARY
Support daily functions within the Patient Accounts department ensuring accurate and timely billing and
posting of insurance and patient payments.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include but are not limited to the following:
• Initial review of encounter fonns
• Review encounters for completeness and accuracy
• Communicate inaccuracies to other departments within LCHC as necessary
• Encounter tracking; both in-coming and outgoing
• Charge entry of encounter forms
• Review end of day reports for corrections
• Post insurance and patient payments on a timely basis
• Prepare and process manual insurance claims
• Respond to patient inquiries; direct to appropriate personnel as necessary
• Provide patients with insurance benefit interpretations
• Prepare, review and send patient statements
• Evaluate patient's financial status and establish budget payment plans. Follow and report status of
delinquent accounts.
• Review accounts for possible assignment and make recommendations to the Director of Patient
Accounts. Prepare infonnation for the co11ection agency.
• Participate in educational activities and staff meetings.
• Maintain strictest confidentiality; adhere to all HIP AA guidelines/regulations
• Other duties as assigned
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES: This position has no supervisory responsibilities.

EDUCATION
High School diploma or equivalent
EXPERIENCE/SKILLS:
Previous data entry experience required. Medical billing experience desired but not required. Previous
Knowledge ofCPT-4, HCPCS, JCD-9 codes, medical tenninology a plus. Data entry, computer, and phone
skills required. Must be well organized and detail-oriented.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
Requires sitting and standing associated with a nonnal office environment. Manual dexterity needed for
