Reporting to the Accounting Manager, the Senior Accountant is responsible for delivering accurate financial reporting, maintaining strong financial controls, ensuring compliance with statutory and regulatory obligations, and supporting the business through insightful financial analysis and continuous process improvement.

The role plays a critical part in ensuring the integrity of financial information while supporting both local and global reporting requirements.

This is a fixed term contract until May 2028

Key responsibilities will be but not limited to:

• Prepare and analyse month-end financial reports and reconciliations.
• Maintain and reconcile financial data between front-office and back-office systems.
• Investigate, reconcile, and resolve financial discrepancies in a timely manner.
• Prepare and submit Group reporting within required deadlines.
• Ensure accurate and timely compliance reporting, including BAS, FBT, levies, and other statutory obligations.
• Assist with the management of foreign exchange exposure in accordance with Group policy.
• Prepare statutory financial information and support annual external audits.
• Assist in the preparation of General Purpose Financial Statements in accordance with Australian Accounting Standards (AASB) and Corporations Act requirements.
• Prepare supporting workpapers and financial disclosures.
• Develop, maintain, and regularly review accounting and compliance procedures.
• Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives across finance systems and processes.
• Support regional accounting, treasury, and system implementation projects.
• Assist with company insurance renewals and other ad hoc finance projects as required.
• Coach and support junior members of the finance team.

Desired Skills and Experience:

• 5-10 years' experience within a finance or accounting team, preferably in commodities, agribusiness, financial services, or a related industry.
• Strong knowledge of Australian Accounting Standards (AASB) and financial reporting requirements.
• Sound understanding of Australian taxation legislation, including BAS, FBT, and corporate tax requirements.
• Proven experience preparing statutory accounts, reconciliations, and compliance reporting.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to interpret complex financial information.
• Highly organised with exceptional attention to detail and the ability to manage competing priorities.
• Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills.
• Self-motivated with the ability to work independently and deliver outcomes with minimal supervision.
• Advanced Microsoft Excel skills.
• Experience with JDE, SAP S/4HANA, or other ERP systems will be highly regarded.
• Exposure to commodity trading, treasury functions, derivatives, warehousing assets, or agricultural industries will be advantageous.
• Experience supporting finance transformation or system implementation projects is desirable.

• Chartered Accountant (CA) or Certified Practising Accountant (CPA) qualification.
• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Commerce, or a related discipline.
