Job Description

The Maintenance Supervisor is responsible for overseeing the daily maintenance function for Canola operations to ensure the safe, efficient, and reliable functioning of all plant equipment and facilities. This role supports the development, implementation, and continuous improvement of the maintenance systems and processes, including planning, scheduling, resource coordination, and performance monitoring. The Maintenance Supervisor works to optimize maintenance practices, reduce downtime, support cost-effective operations, and ensure compliance with company standards and safety requirements.

 

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Supervise, schedule, and prioritize daily maintenance activities to support production requirements.
  • Lead troubleshooting, repair, and optimization of equipment, machinery, and facility systems.
  • Ensure timely response to equipment breakdowns and support root cause analysis and corrective action.
  • Verify completion and quality of maintenance work performed by staff and contractors.
  • Develop, implement, and sustain preventive and predictive maintenance.
  • Maintain accurate maintenance records in the computerized maintenance management system.
  • Review equipment performance trends and recommend improvements.
  • Oversee spare parts inventory to ensure availability of critical components while controlling costs.
  • Manage purchasing requests for parts, materials, and contracted services.
  • Ensure accurate receiving, storage, and issuing of parts and materials.
  • Supervise, coach, and develop maintenance personnel, promoting technical proficiency and safety awareness.
  • Ensure maintenance activities support quality, environmental, food safety (if applicable), and operational standards.
  • Participate in facility audits, hazard assessments, and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Lead or support reliability, efficiency, and cost-reduction projects.
  • Utilize maintenance data to identify opportunities for process and equipment improvements.

Qualifications

  • Journeyman Tradesperson certification required.
  • 10 years of maintenance experience in manufacturing, industrial, or processing operations is required.
  • 4 years of leadership or supervisory experience is required.
  • Strong knowledge of mechanical, electrical, and/or automation systems.
  • Excellent problem solving, leadership, and communication skills
  • Strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple priorities.
  • Demonstrated ability to provide and maintain a safe and effective working environment.
  • Ability to work at heights, in confined spaces, and lift up to 50 lbs as required.
  • Able to support operations and a team within continuous operations, which will result in variable hours of work which may commonly be more than 40 hours per week.
  • Passionate about Agricultural industry.
