Job Description

Overall responsibility:

Implement the country sustainability strategy including Responsible Sourcing (RS) and Stronger Coffee Initiative (SCI) in the field, coordinating with agronomists and field technicians.

Key areas of responsibility

  • Supervise and co-implement the Responsible Sourcing activities in the field including the development, management, and audit of certified supply chains. Help identify new areas, plan and monitor farmer training activities
  • Take responsibility for the assigned scope, including field technicians, farmers, collectors, and agents in the responsible sourcing networks. Be the reference point for the rest of the team regarding best practices about responsible sourcing (certified and verified coffee schemes) and sustainable coffee production.
  • Plan and ensure timely training of field technicians according to relevant certification standards and ensure proper allocation and utilization of assigned company resources.
  • In collaboration with SCI project manager, ensure proper coordination on the field with external SCI partners active in supporting LDC RS farmers
  • Responsible for the sustainability data management and analysis under the supervision of agronomists and the guidance of the country sustainability manager
  • Ensure that data collected by field technicians are in accordance with SOP, prepare reports and oversee traceability systems
  • Regularly report on the implementation of the sustainability operations to the country sustainability manager and team leader.
  • Ensure all activities comply with relevant Group Code of Conducts, legal demands and ethical standards.
  • Perform any other ad-hoc duties as requested by direct manager. 

Qualifications

Overall responsibility:  

Overall functional responsibility:  Support the national sustainability manager on the implementation and management of LDC Monitoring and Evaluation (M&E) framework in Uganda. The M&E includes the management of data related to LDC Responsible Sourcing Strategy and LDC Stronger Coffee Initiative.  

This position contributes to decarbonization strategies through the project signed with LDC partners to reduce carbon emissions at farm level and develop supply chains to produce responsibly grown coffee that LDC will be able to market as Responsibly Sourced and Low Carbon. This project is strategic for our business in Uganda and for LDC new coffee sustainability strategy. 

 

Key areas of responsibility 

 

  1. Set up and implement locally LDC Sustainability M&E system based on the M&E framework designed at global level. That includes but it is not restricted to the listed below tasks:  

  2. Designing survey to collect data from farmers and supply chains’ intermediaries partnering with LDC on sustainability 

  3. Planning and organizing data collection in coordination with LDC agronomists 

  4. Checking data quality 

  1. Analysis of the data collected 

  1. Maintaining and administrating the M&E database. 

  1. Build up data system for communication related to projects and responsible sourcing program. 

  1. Producing report on M&E findings and prepare presentation based on M&E data as required 

  1. Organize and review the quality of the existing data 

  1. Support relevant departments with EUDR documentation to ensure compliance 

  1. Build capacity internally to implement with success LDC M&E system in coordination with the Agronomists team and other relevant departments as necessary.  

  1. Be the reference internally at LDC Coffee Uganda and externally with partners on LDC M&E 

  1. Report regularly to the national sustainability manager on M&E strategy’s implementation. 

  1. Support region level to formalize and implement LDC Stronger Coffee Initiative Monitoring and Evaluation Framework  

  1. Perform other duties as may be assigned by the national sustainability manager  

  1. Ensure all activities comply with relevant Group Code of Conducts, legal demands, and ethical standards   

 

Qualifications and experience:  

  • Bachelor’s degree or higher in Environmental science, Statistics, Economics, International Business or related fields  

  • Minimum 2 experience years in an M&E position responsible for implementing M&E activities, in planning and managing surveys, familiar with the agri-industry (coffee preferred)  

  • Good analytical skills 

  • Advanced in Excel and Google Sheets, experience in developing and refining data collection tools is a plus  

  • Good spoken and written English communication skills 

  • Strong team player  

  • Good in communication skills and interpersonal skills.  

  • Ability to work independently 

  • Ability to work under time pressure and meet deadlines
