Job Title: Engineer, Supplier Quality- India

Reports to: Manager, Operational Quality
GENERAL DESCRIPTION / PURPOSE:
The Supplier Quality Engineer is a hands-on technical contributor responsible for independently executing and owning assigned supplier and component quality activities across the supplier lifecycle—from selection and qualification through production performance, change management, corrective action, warranty support, and supplier development.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
Strategic and Functional
- Works independently with limited technical direction and is accountable for the quality, timeliness, and completeness of assigned work.
- Owns assigned suppliers, commodities, components, projects, audits, qualification activities, corrective actions, performance reviews, and development actions from planning through verification of results.
- Leads complex, recurring, or cross-functional supplier-quality investigations and makes evidence-based recommendations within delegated authority.
- Remains directly engaged in inspections, audits, PPAP and qualification reviews, NCR and SCAR investigations, data analysis, corrective actions, and effectiveness verification and is not limited to administrative oversight or supplier coordination.
Supplier Quality Activities
- Develop and execute risk-based supplier quality plans by evaluating component criticality, supplier capability, performance, and business/customer risk. Select, assess, and qualify suppliers and components through audits, APQP, PPAP, FAI, PFMEA, control plans, capability reviews, and other appropriate methods. Translate technical, customer, and regulatory requirements into effective qualification, inspection, monitoring, and control requirements, and make evidence-based supplier and component approval decisions while ensuring QMS compliance.
- Ensure supplier components meet engineering and quality requirements through appropriate inspection and verification controls. Manage supplier NCR, SCAR, and CAPA activities from containment through root-cause investigation, corrective action, and effectiveness verification, escalating recurring or high-risk issues and ensuring corrective actions are incorporated into supplier process controls.
- Lead supplier-related warranty and field-quality investigations, establishing supplier accountability and driving containment and corrective action. Use quality metrics, statistical analysis, and lessons learned to identify risk, verify improvements, strengthen supplier controls, and reduce defects, escapes, rework, warranty exposure, and cost of poor quality.

Qualifications
Education: Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering.
Experience: 4+ Years Manufacturing, operations, design, supply chain, quality, or regulatory assurance.
Licenses/Certifications: Ability to obtain and maintain Railroad Certifications, American Society for Quality (ASQ) - Member and Certified Quality Engineer (CQE) and APICS - Certified Production and Inventory Manager (CPIM) or Certified Supply Chain Professional (CSCP).
*Or 8+ years’ experience combining knowledge of Quality, Engineering, Manufacturing, Operations, Design, Supply Chain, or Regulatory Assurance.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
Education: Advanced Degree in Business/ Engineering.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- ISO9000, Six Sigma, Lean, and MRP/ERP systems.
- Effective problem-solving, root-cause analytical skills to lead and influence others to drive change (cross-functionally and globally).
PRE-EMPLOYMENT REQUIREMENTS:
This position requires successful completion of the following:
- Social Security Verification: The individual’s name must correspond to their Social Security number and date of birth.
- Drug and Alcohol Testing: All applicants must successfully pass a pre-employment drug and alcohol test. Employees in safety-sensitive positions are subject to random, reasonable suspicion, and post-incident drug and/or alcohol testing in compliance with federal regulations and company policy.
- A nationwide, federal, and state criminal background check will be conducted. Up to a seven-year history will be considered, including incarceration or court supervision. Findings will be reviewed relative to the position requirements.
- Employment Verification: Current and prior relevant employment experience will be verified to confirm the candidate meets the minimum required years of experience for the position.
- Education Verification: Post-secondary education at the associate degree level or higher will be verified, including degree(s) earned and dates of completion.
- Must possess and maintain a valid driver’s license. A Motor Vehicle Record (MVR) check will be conducted upon hire and annually thereafter in accordance with Loram’s Driving Policy.
