Job Description
LBF is seeking an analytical Business Data Analyst to serve as the bridge between raw data and strategic business decisions. The ideal candidate will have exceptional proficiency in SQL and SQL Server, with a strong business acumen to interpret complex datasets and provide insights directly to executives. This role is highly visible, requiring both technical expertise and the ability to communicate effectively with senior leadership.
Key Responsibilities:
- Collaborate directly with executives and department leaders to gather data needs and deliver actionable business insights.
- Analyze and interpret data using SQL queries to support business operations, performance tracking, and strategic decision-making.
- Design and execute complex SQL queries against SQL Server databases to extract and validate data for business reports.
- Provide clear and concise data visualizations and executive summaries to non-technical stakeholders.
- Develop documentation to support data definitions, business rules, and source-to-target mapping.
- Work closely with BI and data engineering teams to align reporting structures with organizational KPIs.
- Identify data quality issues and inconsistencies and work with data stewards to resolve them.
- Support ad hoc data requests and recurring business analysis initiatives across the enterprise.
- Qualifications / Required:
- Bachelor’s degree in business, Information Systems, Data Analytics, Statistics, or equivalent experience.
- 3+ years of experience as a data analyst, business analyst, or similar role in a data-driven organization or equivalent project experience.
- Strong command of SQL with ability to write efficient and complex queries.
- Experience interpreting large datasets and translating data into business insights.
- Statistical Analysis: Experience with t-tests, ANOVA, PCA/Factor Analysis, and clustering/segmentation techniques.
- Predictive Modeling: Proficiency in regression analysis, time series methods (ARIMA, VAR), and machine learning approaches (Random Forest, LCA).
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to explain complex concepts to non-technical audiences.
- Experience working with executive stakeholders and handling sensitive business questions with discretion.
Qualifications
Required Domain Expertise:
- Experience analyzing mortgage data, including conventional, FHA, VA, and reverse mortgage products (HECM), with understanding of loan performance metrics, servicing data, and regulatory reporting requirements
- Familiarity with capital markets concepts, including interest rate movements, bond pricing, and secondary market activities, with ability to apply this knowledge to support business analytics and reporting
Preferred skills:
- Familiarity with BI tools such as Tableau or Power BI.
- Experience with data warehousing or ETL processes.
- Comfort working in a fast-paced and evolving environment.
- Analytical mindset with strong attention to detail.
- Proactive problem-solver who can take initiative.
- Collaborative and team-oriented attitude.
- Strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple priorities.

- Target base salary range is 70K - 85K, which is based on various factors including skills and work experience.
- In addition to base salary, this role is eligible for a competitive additional compensation program via annual bonus that is based on individual performance.
