Design Engineer
- Full-time
Company Description
At Locinox, product innovation is ingrained in our DNA. We constantly strive to develop solutions that enhance the installation and use of an access gate for the installer, gate manufacturer, and the end user. We achieve this through a broad range of products, including locks, hydraulic gate closers, motorized access products, and digital access control. We consistently raise the bar in terms of performance, quality, lifespan, and ease of installation and use.
We hold a very strong market position with our mechanical gate accessories (locks, hinges, gate closers), which we aim to further strengthen. Additionally, we are investing in the development of motorized access products and digital access control. A significant portion of our growth comes from new products, so we continue to invest in ongoing product development. Hence, we are constantly on the lookout for employees who can contribute to realizing this story.
Job Description
As a Design Engineer, you will be responsible for designing and improving (electro)mechanical and electronic products within our product categories: "Fence & Gate Hardware," "Gate Automation," "Hydraulic Gate Closers," and "Perimeter Protection & Access Control." This includes:
- Brainstorming around a concept, designing in CAD, overseeing the creation of prototypes, monitoring tests until a successful product is achieved.
- Discussing the product with manufacturers and production (DFM, DFA).
- In close collaboration with the product manager, as a design engineer, you will be responsible for the technical development of the entire product, from concept to the first production run.
- Using a creative and efficient approach, you will start from an idea or concept, sketch the product, technically draw it (3D package), perform necessary simulations and tests, and oversee its realization – in collaboration with our internal prototype department.
- You will work closely with other colleague designers within the project team, actively sharing your expertise and insights. Through your coaching style and focus on collaboration, you contribute to the further development of the R&D organization.
- You will report to the R&D Manager.
Qualifications
- You combine your degree in industrial engineering (or equivalent through experience) with 10 years of business experience, several of which have been dedicated to product design. As a result, you possess a solid (basic) understanding of the most common production techniques and demonstrate the ability to quickly adapt to new technologies.
- Technically proficient in mechanical and/or electromechanical domains, you exhibit excellent logical-abstract and analytical reasoning skills with a strong 3D insight. Your passion for product development extends to both technical execution and the functional and design components.
- Having experience with 3D-CAD software, preferably Solidworks, you can effectively translate concepts into detailed designs. A genuine team player with a positive 'can-do attitude,' you actively contribute to collaborative efforts.
- Your combination of strong project skills allows you to keep projects on target and within budget, effectively coordinating various sub-projects. Fluent in English, you enhance communication capabilities in an international context.
