MANAGER NETWORK OPERATIONS

Job Description


Status: Full Time Staff Location: Melville, Long Island

POSITION SUMMARY

Plans, organizes and manages the staff and activities in support of day-to-day Network Operations including diagnosing, configuring and documenting complex network problems and responding to network issues affecting the communities. Collaborates with Wide Area Network (WAN) and Internet carriers/vendors during implementations and outages. Works toward system improvement, efficiency and standardization.


RESPONSIBILITIES

Plans, organizes and manages the staff and activities in support of Network Operations.

Selects, develops, manages and evaluates direct reports. Ensures performance appraisals are completed in a timely fashion. Communicates expectations and service levels.

Ensures configuration of network devices, including routers, switches, firewalls, load balancers, IPS/IDS, wireless controllers and access points in a highly available clinical environment.

Manages level diagnoses of complex network problems.

Manages resource adherence to the change control process. Manages Network operational resources and trouble tickets.

Ensures network equipment is racked and stacked and testing and tracing of network cables is performed.

Performs trending analysis for chronic issue resolution and remediates escalated network issues.

Analyzes converged network traffic and reports to management on results. Makes recommendations for process, efficiency and standardization improvements.

Manages patch management on network devices as required to ensure a stable network.

Establish reports and metrics on all activities associated with the performance and reliability of all network technologies.

Collaborate with OCIO Security teams to resolve issues and improve services.

Works directly with WAN and internet carriers during implementations and outages and manages vendor relations regarding maintenance contracts.

Ensures proper documentation of all network changes and implementations.

Performs related duties, as required

Qualifications

EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATIONS

 High School Diploma or equivalent, required. Bachelor’s degree in a related technology field, preferred.

 Minimum of ten (10) years design, implementation and support experience with Cisco and Juniper devices in a converged, enterprise class data network environment, and support of large scale multi-homed connections to ISP networks, including supervisory experience, required.

 Cisco Certified Network Professional (CCNP) or Cisco Certified Design Professional (CCDP) certification required.

 Experience researching, analyzing and evaluating network solutions.

 Ability to read and analyze network packet captures.

 Proven proficiency in the use of network monitoring tools such as SolarWinds, Cisco Prime Infrastructure, CiscoWorks, Netscout, Riverbed Cascade, Splunk, and Cisco ACS required.

 Expert troubleshooting experience/skills with network protocols such as: BGP, OSPF, EIGRP, DHCP, HSRP, VRRP, MPLS, IEEE 802.1q, 802.3 and 808.1x, required

 Experience with Network Quality of Service (QoS) including IP precedence, DSCP and COS in a converged network that includes voice, video and data, required.

 Experience implementing WAN/MAN technologies including: T1, DS3, OC3, OC12, OC48, OC192, Metro-Ethernet, DWDM and datacenter to datacenter (DC-DC) connections, required.

 Thorough knowledge of SNMP and/or NetFlow configuration and utilization in an Enterprise Network.
