Job Description

The Project Manager, Training & Certification is a full-time position responsible for facilitating effective, efficient cross-departmental project implementations for the Training & Certification group at the Linux Foundation. This group develops and delivers training courses and certification exams requiring extensive collaboration between its different subteams, external departments, and third-party vendors. This role reports to the Sr. Project Manager, Training & Certification and drives accountability and execution by implementing project management best practices on communication, scoping, delivery tracking, etc.

The successful candidate must be willing to work within the following hours:
03:00pm-11:00pm (GMT) / 08:00am-4:00pm (PST). 

The successful candidate must be willing to shift schedules as needed, to deal with the practical challenges presented by working with colleagues across global time zones.

Qualifications

The Project Manager’s primary responsibilities are as follows:

  • Helps clarify project goals early on and facilitates the creation of a robust project plan
  • Ensure adherence to the best practices and use of standardized tooling (JIRA, Confluence, etc.)
  • Defines scope, resources, and schedule based on high-level objectives and milestones 
  • Facilitates ongoing communication between team members to ensure alignment and understanding of who should be doing what, by when, and why
  • Identifies resource gaps and surfaces for decision 
  • Implements Agile practices across the team (defining epics, stories) 
  • Drives project success: managing the backlog and ensuring quality and productive meetings 
  • Conduct post-mortems to identify opportunities to improve
  • Regularly communicates status to stakeholders
