Job Description

The Director of Technical Programs works jointly with the CTO to drive critical and complex projects by providing technical leadership, resource management, community / partner engagement, and enabling cross-organizational change. This person will be responsible for driving strategic cross-organizational programs and for partnering with leadership teams to drive planning and execution of these programs. Deep knowledge of ISAs, computer and SoC architecture, RTL design verification, memory models, firmware, and embedded software is required for this role. The ideal candidate will have in-depth knowledge of the RISC-V ISA, RISC-V International working groups, and thrives in an ambiguous environment.

 Key Responsibilities Include

In this role you will be a strategic partner to the RISC-V CTO and CEO and the leader of technical programs reporting to the CTO and dotted line to the CEO. You will prioritize operational and technical team needs and guide technical teams as they deliver on clear, concise, and measurable deliverables.

  • Help the RISC-V technical teams define deliverables and timeframes and ensure that every effort is made to keep to those timelines.
  • Support the CTO in developing and implementing the RISC-V technical strategy.
  • Identify and implement priority initiatives required to effectively execute RISC-V technical strategy.
  • Identify gaps in technology coverage or governance and propose and implement solutions.
  • Lead technical program staff in driving meetings with key stakeholders enabling groups to make decisions, remove obstacles, and address key program issues.
  • Manage RISC-V technical program managers, relationships with RISC-V member staff, and external organizations.
  • Work with multiple delivery teams to take a broader view across the technical organization to drive the collective goals of RISC-V technical strategy.
  • Manage partnerships with LF IT, RISC-V Technical Lab Partners, and outsourced projects.
  • Ensure cross-organizational communication and collaboration within RISC-V technical program leadership and working groups.
  • Be part of the external face of RISC-V, identifying opportunity, participating in meetups, conferences, publications, interviews, and social media.

Qualifications

  • 7+ years experience managing large highly complex programs/projects.
  • BS ECE, EE, or CS required, preferred Masters in ECE, CS, or related technical field.
  • Demonstrate proven leadership skills, with intuitive people skills and a strategic mindset.
  • Excellent analytical and problem solving skills with a history of hands-on, detail orientation.
  • Ability to establish credibility and rapport with senior executives and technical and non-technical team members alike.
  • Outstanding organizational, communication, and relationship building skills conducive to driving consensus; able to work well in a cross-functional, matrix management environment.
  • Ability to master complex technical subjects and technologies.
  • Strong organizational, program leadership, analysis, and communication skills.
  • Ability to work well as a member of a highly dynamic team composed of both non-technical and technical members.
  • Ability to successfully partner with all functional areas across RISC-V member organizations.
