Job Description

As the Accounting Manager, you will assist the Controller in all day-to-day accounting functions. You will assist with the month-end close, prepare and review financial reports, assist with audits and the preparation of the tax returns and implement improvements in accounting procedures. The successful candidate will have a deep understanding of basic accounting principles and is looking to grow their skills in financial reporting and forecasting. 

 

Responsibilities

  • Assist the accounting team of 7 in the month-end close processes
  • Maintain timely and accurate general ledger account reconciliations.
  • Responsible for the posting of the payroll journal entries and working with the Payroll Manager to investigate any discrepancies. 
  • Assist the Controller in maintaining the employee forecasting, staying in sync with hiring, open jobs and leavers. 
  • Participate in the development and modification of accounting/financial policies, procedures, and practices, as necessary.
  • Guide other departments by researching and interpreting accounting policies; apply observations and recommendations to operational issues.
  • Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal government reporting requirements and tax filings; maintains a thorough understanding of rules and regulations that may impact the business
  • Other Projects and/or Ad Hoc Reporting and analysis as needed.
  • Assist with external audits and tax return preparation

Qualifications

  • Minimum BS in Accounting, Finance or related program
  • Understanding of US GAAP
  • Minimum 5 years of progressive experience in accounting with 3 years experience with a Big 4 public accounting firm
  • Experience in assisting with external financial audits
  • Experience in documentation of accounting processes and best practices
  • Excellent analytical and problem solving skills
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills and the ability to multitask and to meet deadlines
  • Advanced capabilities in Microsoft office products: Excel, Word, PowerPoint, etc.
  • Experience with NetSuite a plus
