Job Description
What you’ll do:
As a marketing associate for open source Projects at the Linux Foundation, you will be a vital part of supporting our most important Foundation brands.
This role provides an incredible opportunity to be part of the marketing support team, working with marketing leaders across unique technology Projects under the Linux Foundation's diverse community. You’ll be responsible for helping to execute the marketing and communications strategy for a variety of project communities and supporting the fulfillment of marketing and communications scopes of work. Your support of your team’s marketing plan(s) will encompass a combination of activities that drive integrated campaigns that leverage content development, virtual and live events, PR/communications, social media, web/landing pages, account-based marketing (ABM), and digital marketing. You’ll work closely with a group of networking industry thought leaders and program managers, as well as be supported by a team of marketing pros that enable our automated demand generation tools, deliver creative services, manage event venues and logistics, and provide analytics and reporting.
Marketing activities at the Linux Foundation help expand awareness of incredible innovations that our community builds together. New and amazing stories of innovation, creativity and community come to us every week. In this role, you’ll grow your expertise as you help to drive new membership opportunities and more engagement in developer communities, spread knowledge of impactful releases and collaborations, drive participation at virtual and physical events, and encourage training and certification on new technologies.
This position is for an individual contributor, no direct reports.
Responsibilities:
- Be a supportive marketing team member for an incredible group of open source Projects and communities. In this role you will lead marketing as you grow your subject matter expertise in open source technology spaces and within industries.
- Execute marketing plans that include integrated campaigns, events, content, and communications.
- Collaborate with colleagues and community leaders to support Projects’ Marketing Advisory Council meetings (agenda, execution, minute taking, action items).
- Support building and maintaining Project brands (logo, design elements, color palette, and branding guidelines).
- Support the maintenance, evolution, and optimization of Project websites.
- Support the development of clear and engaging content that is consistent with the Foundation’s brand image and addresses both business goals and community needs. Content may include web pages, case studies, videos, digital promotions, newsletters, blog posts, press releases, and social media.
- Support the development of PR campaigns and media relations strategies to complement marketing activities. You will also support the Project's central PR contact.
- Support monitoring, tracking, reporting, and analysis of metrics related to marketing activities across channels on a regular basis.
- Work with our central demand gen organization to reconcile Project contact lists, as well as new contact leads.
- Support virtual and physical events with branding, messaging, promotions, and onsite activities such as booths, demos, and content development.
Qualifications
- 1 to 2 years of marketing experience in B2B business, preferably in open source, at a marketing agency, or in a multi stakeholder environment
- A collaborative team player able to manage multiple projects and priorities simultaneously.
- Ability to work effectively with different groups of global stakeholders and personality types.
- Ability to work occasionally outside of normal working hours.
- Previous hands-on experience in email marketing, Hubspot experience preferred.
- Ability to interface at all levels maintaining strong working relationships across cross-functional teams.
- Can-do, hands-on attitude for team collaboration and participation at all levels, from strategy to execution.
