Job Description

We are looking for a passionate bridge builder that can bring individuals together across technical, cultural and geo-political boundaries. It requires the unique combination of technical acumen, business savvy, ability to influence, and plain old common sense which are required when building out industry-changing technologies at a global scale.

This opening is in the area of Open Source Networking and the Edge across the entire stack, from Network OS to the Apps that run on it. Some of the game-changing Open Source Projects you will be working with include DENT, Open RAN, FD.io, eBPF, DPDK, and larger umbrella communities such as  LF Edge and LF Networking. . Helping to both recruit and retain community members and developers is at the heart of this highly strategic role.

Qualifications

Business Skills 

  • Ability proactively identify and resolve potential issues impacting direction and strategy

  • Clarity of communications appropriate for a given set of stakeholders, including upwards, (governing board and VP - C  level executives) and downwards, (developers and technical community)

  • Cross-functional leadership across projects, across geographies, across companies and  across business divisions 

  • Membership and Business Development focused mindset

  • Being ahead of industry technology trends and disruptions (M&A, org changes, etc.) and more importantly planning for the impact these may have on your development Programs and membership. 

Experience (Breadth versus depth) 

  • Having served in multiple roles across different areas of the stack/technologies/markets/operations

  • Demonstrated experience of having independently  led a technical program from start to finish (idea to delivered product)

  • Direct customer-facing experience in a support, professional services or sales capacity

  • Given the nature of the Programs you will be focusing on, a previous background in Data Plane and/or Network Operating systems is strongly preferred.

Influence

  • Collaboration is the key indicator here. You must understand how to influence teams and individuals that do not report within your sphere of influence. 

  • Ability to identify, help and impact upwards GM/ED level - in investments, strategic plans and growth 

  • Ability to impact outwards, at all levels,  in an  organization with other Linux Foundation  Projects and within the LF itself) 

Additional Information

This position requires overnight and weekend travel to events both domestically and internationally (~30%). As our in-person events require COVID-19 vaccinations for participation, the position requires proof of COVID-19 vaccination. This position is remote and is open to applicants who can work North America time-zone standard business hours.
