Job Description

The Junior Software Developer is an entry to mid-level software development and QA position responsible for working with teams to design, develop, support, test, and maintain performance-based exam content within the Linux Foundation (LF) Certification portfolio. The Linux Foundation’s Training and Certification team is committed to growing the Open Source community by on-ramping IT professionals with the right skills to keep up with the growing industry’s demands for more Open Source talent. This role will be joining the Content and Product Development (PD) team reporting to the Director of Certification Products.

Position Details

Working closely with LF teams, community subject matter experts, and our vendors, this role is essential for the timely and reliable development, delivery, and support of Linux Foundation and member project exams and skill assessment products. As a team member, you would develop and support content and code within our exams and assist in expanding our infrastructure to support those exams. New products are being built in partnership with multiple Linux Foundation Project members, and we are looking for a great addition to our team to make these new offerings successful and a positive experience for our candidates.

As part of a small cross-functional team, the position is ideal for a customer-minded developer with broader interests in Open Source and data science.

Qualifications

  • 2+ years experience with (and a passion for) Open Source and cloud-native technologies -- such as Linux and Kubernetes 

  • Desire to learn new technologies and curiosity to adapt them to an exam environment

  • Experience or in-depth understanding of working in an agile environment with project tracking tools such as Jira

  • Excellent collaboration and time management skills

  • Proven written communication and documentation skills

  • Proficiency with Git and Python

  • Proficiency with web technologies (HTML, CSS, JS, and PHP or Node.js

  • The ability to work with Node.js, Blockchain, Automation, Embedded Linux, Kernel Development, or other high-profile LF Open Source projects is a huge plus!
