Job Description

The Senior Engineer, Training and Certification is a software engineering role contributing to the design, implementation and maintenance of performance based exams and supporting infrastructure.

Position Details

Working within the Technical Services team and reporting to the Technical Services Team Lead, the Senior DevOps Engineer strengthens the LF Certification program by developing, testing and delivering repeatable exam environments through the use of exam frameworks, CI/CD pipelines and other supporting software.

The position leverages expert knowledge from multiple technical disciplines, as well as deep knowledge of specific open source technologies -- such as Linux and Kubernetes -- which the Certification program supports. 

Primary Responsibilities

  • Design, document, develop, test and deploy performance based exams

  • Design, document and develop frameworks which streamline exam creation, and maintenance

  • Design document and develop CI/CD pipelines

  • Lead project initiatives and ensure their timely delivery

  • Troubleshoot and perform root cause analysis on exam environment and platform issues

  • Contribute suggestions and solutions for process and cultural improvements through participation in regular team retrospectives

  • Create and participate in post mortems covering critical production issues

  • Facilitate efficient communication across multiple time zones through flexible availability (minimum 2 hours crossover within the 13:00-0:00 UTC window)

  • Participate in a weekend on-call roster for no more than 1 weekend per calendar month

Qualifications

  • Deep experience and a passion for open source and cloud native technologies -- such as Linux and Kubernetes -- as well as the desire to learn new technologies as they join our portfolio

  • Excellent collaboration and time management skills

  • Proven written communication skills

  • Expert knowledge with infrastructure as code

  • Hands-on technical experience managing cloud services at scale

  • Strong focus on CI/CD and other product delivery practices

  • Proficiency in at least one programming language
