The work location of this role is hybrid, meaning it will be performed both from home and from a LinkedIn office on select days, as determined by the business needs of the team.
This role will be based in Sunnyvale, CA.
Overview:
This role will serve as the strategic technical and thought leader for AI solutions in our Flagship Profile, Pages, Messaging, and Groups domain. These products form the backbone of professional identity on the platform representing who members are, what organizations stand for, how professionals communicate, and where communities form around shared expertise. This ML engineering role sits at the intersection of all four, building the AI models that power these experiences across a dataset unique in the world: over a billion professional profiles, millions of companies, and trillions of professional connections and interactions.
You will define the AI strategy and roadmap for identity experiences across these surfaces, develop and ship models that drive profile enrichment, entity understanding, personalized recommendations, and intelligent communication features with your work touching virtually every member's experience on LinkedIn and shaping what professional identity looks like in the age of AI.
Responsibilities:
- Serve as the Principal technical/thought leader for AI engineering across a team of 25+ individuals
- Design and build (hands-on) a variety of AI solutions including modeling and GAI.
- Partner with peer organizations and foundational teams to collaborate.
- Operate best engineering and scientific practices & processes to ensure productivity of the team and drive faster iterations via A/B experiments
- Be a role model and professional coach for engineers with a strong bias for action and focus on craftsmanship.
Qualifications
Basic Qualifications:
2+ years of experience as a Technical Lead
5+ years of overall industry experience in AI / Machine Learning
Bachelor’s, Master’s, or PhD Degree in Computer Science, Machine Learning, or related technical discipline or equivalent practical experience
Preferred Qualifications:
10+ years of relevant professional experience.
4+ years of technical leadership (Staff+) experience, including recent experience at the Senior Staff / L7 / Principal Engineer level.
Ph.D. in Computer Science, Machine Learning, Natural Language Processing, or a related discipline.
Experience developing and designing enterprise scale AI solutions impacting tens of thousands (or more) end-users.

Compensation:
LinkedIn is committed to fair and equitable compensation practices. The pay range for this role is $191,000 - $315,000. Actual compensation packages are based on a wide array of factors unique to each candidate, including but not limited to skill set, years & depth of experience, certifications and specific office location. This may differ in other locations due to cost of labor considerations.
