Job Description

This role can be based in any of our US office locations or wherever the candidate chosen for hire currently resides. At LinkedIn, we trust each other to do our best work where it works best for us and our teams. This role offers both hybrid and remote work options, meaning you can work from home and commute to a LinkedIn office, depending on what’s best for you and when it is important for your team to be together, or this role can be performed remotely in most locations in the country of employment.


The Vice President, Marketing and Communications, Channel Strategy & Operations, is a critical leader in the Growth, Performance & Operations team within LinkedIn Marketing. 
The Vice President will be responsible for Owned and Paid Media channels (Email, Paid Media, and owned Media on LinkedIn) to deliver the right message to the right audience at the right time amongst prospects, members, and customers of LinkedIn’s B2B and B2C businesses. This role will support all LinkedIn’s business units (Brand, Consumer, Marketing Solutions, Talent Solutions, Sales Solutions, and Premium) to deliver growth and performance against the business goals.


The Vice President, Channel Strategy & Operations will also be responsible for driving strategic thinking and innovation in all business areas by collaborating closely with cross-functional partners in Marketing such as Brand, Creative, Measurement & Analytics, MarTech, Web, as well as Product, Engineering, Finance, and Sales.


We seek someone passionate about marketing, media, and technology to drive business outcomes at all levels, keeping a constant pulse on the ever-changing landscape. The candidate should have substantial experience managing hundreds of millions of dollars in media budget across multiple channels and a complex media mix, a complex portfolio of brands and/or products, multiple agencies, and negotiating complex deals and contracts with current and potential partners. The candidate should combine analytical rigor, experience-driven intuition, and creative thinking to deliver results at scale while pushing the team to take intelligent risks. 


Thought leadership is of paramount importance in this role. The VP will set a clear vision and operating model for the team, communicate top priorities, and maximize impact from the resources available, balancing short and long-term priorities.


The ideal candidate will have vast expertise in comms planning and leading integrated brand and performance campaigns throughout the marketing funnel (from awareness to monetization and lifecycle). They will be exceptional at building solid relationships across organizations, conducting elaborate external negotiations, distilling complex ideas into easy-to-digest communications, and running large programs in a way that inspires confidence and trust across stakeholders.


The candidate needs to be an exceptional people leader capable of supporting, inspiring, and developing the incredible talent in the ~70 people team, fostering an environment of inclusion and belonging, as well as ensuring operational best practices to increase efficiency and effectiveness across Paid and Owned channels. The Vice President, Channel Strategy & Operations, will report to the Vice President of Growth, Performance & Operations within the Marketing and Communications organization.


Responsibilities:

  • Contribute as a member of the leadership team for the Growth, Performance & Operations team.
  • Deliver business objectives across multiple B2B and B2C business units, acquisition and customer goals, new and established products, offerings, and features.
  • Set a vision for the Channel Strategy and Operations team, inspire managers and individual contributors, and create a positive working environment and operating model that maximizes output from the team’s efforts.
  • Prioritize initiatives appropriately, making tradeoffs and aligning talent with the work to be done.
  • Proactively identify opportunities to innovate within the team and with cross-functional partners. 
  • Find opportunities to streamline operations through operational excellence, automation, and effective management of the available resources, partners, and agencies.
  • Partner with FP&A and key business partners to inform investment decisions and effectively measure and report on the impact of our programs.
  • Partner with Brand and Creative partners to ensure the deployment of best practices aimed at maximizing the effectiveness of cross-channel campaigns and strategies.
  • Be an strategic and operational thought leader for their peers and cross-functional teams alike.
  • Communicate and manage stakeholders effectively across various cross-functional groups, ensuring outputs meet business needs.
     

Qualifications

Basic qualifications:

  • BA/BS degree or equivalent work experience 
  • 15+ years experience in marketing strategy and operations, including paid and owned channels. More specifically:
    • Experience planning and managing brand and performance marketing campaigns across acquisition and customer/lifecycle efforts.
    • Experience buying paid media programmatically and via direct and upfront deals.
    • Experience in digital as well as offline media. 
    • Experience with email marketing.
  • 8+ years managing people, including managing other people managers. Experience recruiting, managing, and inspiring a large team.
  • 6+ years of experience in negotiating deals and contracts.
  • 6+ years of experience in managing agencies, including staffing, auditing and negotiating contracts or agency experience.
  • Experience working with cross-functional teams such as analytics, martech, web, data science, engineering, and product. 
  • Experience partnering closely with FP&A to inform investment decisions and effectively measure and report on the impact of programs.

Preferred qualifications:

  • Proven track record of thought leadership and innovation in Marketing, Media, Business, or Technology.
  • Experience with owned media.
  • Experience in a Tech company.

The pay range for this role is $240,000 - $375,000. Actual compensation packages are based on several factors that are unique to each candidate, including but not limited to skill set, depth of experience, certifications, and specific work location. This may be different in other locations due to differences in the cost of labor.
