As the Director of Site Reliability Engineering for our Flagship, Premium, Trust, and Site SRE organization, you will be responsible for working closely with the product software development and product management organizations to drive new and exciting engaging experiences that will connect every member of the global workforce to new opportunities. Some examples of this is our strategy to build more active communities, groups, events, and ultimately helping to build an engaging product marketplace. There are four critical pieces of the role that come together:
Flagship: This is the heart and sole of LinkedIn that drives engagement across the site. This is our core Feed, Growth, Messaging, Identity, Search, and Content experience ecosystems that our core to LinkedIn members. When members access LinkedIn this is the experience they see and is mission critical. Today LinkedIn serves ~2.25B weekly feed updates, 6B homepage weekly views, 20M creators a day, 229M messages sent a week between members, and 16M reactions a day. In addition, LinkedIn has over 700M+ members.
Premium: This is the pay version of LinkedIn that offers members additional access to LinkedIn’s website to help them connect / leverage LinkedIn to do more. This piece of our ecosystem drives 1.2+ billion in revenue.
Trust: Trust is at the heart of how LinkedIn makes every decision because LinkedIn’s members trust are what powers LinkedIn. Working closely with the head of Trust development and Safety you will be engaged in ensuring our members our safe from the initial login through their experience of using LinkedIn. Our goal is to ensure LinkedIn remains a safety and trusted platform for every member of the global workforce.
Site: This is a newly formed organization that contains our SiteOps (eyes on the site team) and our Prod SRE organization. This leader will need to work with the head of SRE + the manager for this organization to build a future strategy on expanding the charter of this organization to provide more insights/analytics while leveraging aspects of machine learning to help navigate the charter of the SRE + Eng organizations around building reliability into the software development lifecycle.
This job is as mission-critical as it gets. You will lead an amazing Site Reliability Engineering team. You will drive the technology and help to prioritize and execute the product roadmap with reliability in mind while you collaborate with your Software Development counterparts.
You will oversee some of the most talented engineers on the planet, and help them to pursue their passion and transform their careers. Your growth will come from building and supporting strong leaders to whom you can effectively delegate, mentor for peak performance, define clear roles and accountability, communicate clear priorities and maximize cross-organizational alignment. RESPONSIBILITIES:
Provide technical leadership for product strategies incorporating reliability at the heart of the products and technologies we ship.
Partner/Align with your Engineering counterparts, Security, SRE counterparts and TPM’s to prioritize operational improvements to drive site health and enable any engineer to run and operate their service at ease.
Drive and own improvements in end-to-end infrastructure and systems.
Be the domain expert who is tuned in to industry trends and applies best practices.
Inspire, lead and grow a world-class engineering organization. Be a role model and coach for engineers and leaders. Help them realize their potential by setting clear expectations, openly evaluating performance, upholding accountability, and providing challenges (within and outside their team) to stretch their skills.
Foster a culture of collaboration and excellence. Actively promote diversity and inclusion.
7+ years of engineering management.
BS (or higher, e.g., MS, or PhD) in Computer Science or related technical field involving coding (e.g., physics or mathematics), or equivalent technical experience
Qualifications
Basic Qualifications
Experience/Knowledge of Java/any other object oriented programming language.
Experience with interpersonal communication skills (including listening, speaking, and writing) and ability to work well in a diverse, team-focused environment with other SREs, Engineers, Product Managers, etc.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience in owning consumer or customer facing mission critical systems and working under SLA's on uptime, performance. Experience in leading consumer facing content products will be a plus.
Familiarity with content engagement, discovery or related domain.
Experience managing both engineering (SFDC), SRE, and driving a mission critical operations for a particular domain.
Experience managing 50+ engineers.
Experience leading a multi-location global team.
Experience at second level management (leading other managers).
Python experience, specifically for systems automation.

LinkedIn is committed to fair and equitable compensation practices. The pay range for this role is $195,000 to $320,000. Actual compensation packages are based on a wide array of factors unique to each candidate, including but not limited to skill set, years & depth of experience, certifications and specific office location. This may differ in other locations due to cost of labor considerations.
