LinkedIn is looking for a highly motivated journalist to curate the news and conversations that help members navigate their careers and build an active professional community. In this role, you will curate quality creator conversations and cover trending news topics in real time for distribution across the platform. You'll also be collaborating with our global team of editors. Our goal is to share the news and views that matter to help professionals talk about what matters — and that includes finding the right companies and people to follow through our coverage.​​​​​​

Job Description

Please note: The position calls for a work schedule of Wednesday through Sunday.

The role involves discovering and summarizing a mix of breaking news and trends while curating the right creator voices for each story, putting strong emphasis on topics that professionals need to know about now and that spark great conversations. The successful candidate will be a strong, fast and accurate editor with a knack for snappy writing and an eye for spotting and highlighting high-quality shares from creators.

The ability to write accurately under deadline pressure is essential. You’ll take complex information and communicate it clearly, concisely and correctly, without relying on technical or corporate jargon. The best candidate lives and breathes professional news and has a passion for following and spotting the kind of topics that are igniting professional conversations. 

You will join a dynamic team building something brand new in business news and views, and get a fast education in platforms and entrepreneurial journalism. LinkedIn’s 75+ editors work around the globe: New York, San Francisco, London, Paris, Madrid, Milan, Dubai, Munich, Berlin, São Paulo, Bangalore, Tokyo, Singapore, Beijing and Sydney. Their previous lives include the AP, CNBC, Fortune, Reuters, The Wall Street Journal and more. Our news editors help define the future of how professionals create, curate and consume business content.

RESPONSIBILITIES: 

  • Curating the best conversations on the platform. 

  • Writing concise, persuasive descriptions and eye-catching headlines for LinkedIn's news products.

  • Pulling from a variety of news sources to create dynamic, real-time collections of stories and topics. 

  • Proofreading editorial copy to check spelling and grammar.

  • Keeping up-to-date with breaking and trending news, while monitoring the impact of your own work.

  • Overseeing news coverage during key hours.

Qualifications

Basic Qualifications:

  • 3+ years experience in a newsroom setting

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience as a sub-editor.

  • Familiarity with LinkedIn news products and services, and our target audience.
