Job Description
Location: This role will be based in any of our U.S. office locations when LinkedIn returns to our offices (including San Francisco/Bay Area, Chicago, Omaha, New York, Washington DC, or Detroit). The office location will be in alignment with the U.S. office closest to the location that the approved-for-hire candidate resides.

As Product and Privacy Counsel for LinkedIn's equity initiatives, you will provide legal support focused on LinkedIn’s effort to detect and eliminate unfair bias in our consumer and talent products and create more equitable outcomes for our members. You will work with LinkedIn’s Product, Engineering, and Marketing teams to ensure that LinkedIn can continue to lawfully provide products and services that help connect the world’s professionals to make them more successful and productive. You will work in a fast-paced, diverse, collaborative and motivated legal department that values humor and teamwork. You will partner with stakeholders across the Company, including Product, Data Science, Diversity & Inclusion, and Public Policy to provide guidance and drive smart, legally compliant, and “members first” solutions.
Responsibilities:
- Work collaboratively within and outside of the legal department to help ensure that LinkedIn products and processes are compliant with applicable laws and regulations relating to consumer protection, security, and privacy.
- Provide legal counsel on relevant consumer and enterprise product and feature developments.
- Document counseling and help organize and drive legal processes.
- Stay current on policy issues and legal developments relating to social media platforms, equity and discrimination.
- Advise teams on legal issues related to data management and use.
- Draft clear, consistent disclosures and terms to enable our members and customers to make informed choices about their privacy and use of LinkedIn’s products.
- Collaborate and build relationships with industry peers.
- Attend ongoing industry working groups and training on relevant subject areas.
- Play an active role in fulfilling LinkedIn's mission of connecting the world's professionals to make them more productive and successful by being an integral member of our fast-paced, well-rounded, collaborative, and FUN Legal & Public Policy team.
Basic Qualifications:
- 4+ years' related legal experience, with a focus on privacy and/or product counseling.
- J.D. and admission to the bar or the ability to practice in-house in your office location.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience in consumer law, technology-related litigation, employment discrimination litigation and/or technology transactions.
- Experience in solving product legal matters, including communicating and collaborating effectively with stakeholders with wide-ranges of legal and technical experience and knowledge.
- Experience working at a technology company or working with technology clients strongly preferred.
- Experience providing counsel on, or demonstrated understanding of, the issues faced by social media companies.
- Familiarity and interest in legal and policy issues relating to both equity & discrimination and platform liability & privacy strongly preferred.
