About the role: We are looking for experienced software engineers that want to build software that helps people with aphasia lead fulfilling lives. The Software Engineer will join our engineering team that focuses on building platforms that support our products.  

The ideal candidate would be an eager to learn and inquisitive developer with experience in Ruby on Rails. We are looking for a team player who is passionate about code quality and hungry to learn new technologies and development stacks as needed by the team.  

Our Setup 

• The team works in a two-week iteration model and follows SCRUM as the basis of our software development process.  
• We use Jira to track our user stories, chores and bugs.  
• We use GitHub to maintain our code base. 
• Our cloud infrastructure is hosted in AWS. 
• We love tools that make our lives easier and have a plethora of modern and not so modern tools and services.  

Duties and responsibilities 

• Maintain, develop or rewrite applications with Ruby on Rails  
• Actively contribute to the SCRUM team deliverables for each sprint. 
• Resolve production issues  
• Collaborate with other members of the team to develop products and solutions and maintain our automated test suite. 

Skills and Competencies 

• Experienced developing and deploying web applications with Ruby on Rails on Heroku 
• Knowledge of CI/CD technologies 
• Ability to work collaboratively in teams and develop meaningful relationships to achieve common goals 
• Experience setting up or using services like Airbrake, Code Climate, Travis CI is highly desirable. 
• Experience with agile development methodologies such as SCRUM or Kanban is a plus. 
• Experience with other stacks and frameworks is a plus. 

Required Education & Certifications  

• B.S. in Computer Science or related field 

Required Experience 

• 2+ years of experience building applications with Ruby on Rails 

Job Type 

• Full Time 
• Regular office hours: 9 AM to 5 PM, Monday to Friday 

Travel Requirements: 

• Travel to Princeton, NJ or another location within the United States for training, team meetings, etc., approximately 4x / year
