Overview

We are looking for a generalist programmer with web development experience and/or Linux based server programming experience for a devops position in Japan. The position is for a developer who is comfortable working within Linux environments, developing and optimizing SQL queries, and performing various Linux system and database administrative tasks. Your responsibilities include managing /administrating multiple cloud-hosted Linux-based web servers, as well as small-scale cloud-hosted databases.

You must be able to work on your own, interfacing with management via Skype as-needed. You will be required to quickly grasp and carry out tasks as they are they are given to you. Autonomy and strong self-motivation are key. We are looking for canditates located in Japan, however remote work setup is also a possibility.

Required Experience/Skills

• Experience using and development for Linux based systems (Redhat/CentOS/Amazon/similar preferred)
• Experience programming in two or all of the following: Python, PHP, Perl,
• Experience in basic (or better) Linux administration and Bash shell scripting
• Experience writing SQL queries and optimizing
• Experience with Web protocols/technologies (HTML, Javascript, CSS)
• Some experience in basic (or better) DB administration (MySQL or PostgreSQL)

Other requirements

• Minimum business-level English
• Degree/Diploma in IT/Engineering/Computer-science related field and/or 3 years of solid experience in the field
  
• Currently residing in Japan or willingness to relocate to Japan

Bonus Experience/Skills

• Japanese language skills
• Database optimization  experience

• Experience managing servers within Amazon AWS preferred

Salary Range

4,200,000JPY  to  6,000,000JPY per year - depending on skill and experience level
