The Game Artist is responsible for creating and developing high quality content and game imagery based on specific game mechanics/story boards and briefs. They will work in collaboration with other members of the art team to create high quality assets for use in projects and games. They should be able to create work in a variety of styles, work from briefs provided to them but also be able to work on games based on their own concepts. 

Working closely and collaboratively with artists, animators and developers, the Senior Game Artist work is vital to maintaining the high graphical fidelity that our games are known for. Game Artist’s normal contribution to a game project would be the following:  

• The design of backgrounds, characters theming for the game. 

• The creation of interfaces, symbols, logos and menus. 

• Animation of created assets. 

• Delivering game ready assets to the development team. 

The Game Artist delivers the highest standards game art while following intellectual property and copyright guidelines, meeting the production deadlines and demonstrates a sense of responsibility by ensuring the quality and visual consistency of their work. 

The Game Artist must have the creative skills to produce assets quickly and efficiently and be fully proficient with the current tools of the trade such as the Photoshop, Illustrator, After Effects and Spine. A successful candidate would be able to demonstrate, though their work, a keen eye for composition, anatomy and colour theory. 

Required Skills 

A strong portfolio of artwork is required. Please include examples of background and character work. 

A successful applicant will demonstrate: 

• Exceptional ability in the creation of 2D artwork. 
   

• The ability to adjust their work to fit a brief thematically and stylistically. 
   

• Animating artwork (both your own and when given existing art) is a huge benefit to any application. The studio utilises After Effects and Esoteric Spine for our workflow. The right applicant with an exceptional portfolio may considered without animation experience. 
   

• Ability to work accurately and effectively when working with tight branding restrictions. 
   

• Enthusiasm for working both on collaborative work with other members of the art team and also working solo on smaller projects. 

Adobe Photoshop CC 

• A strong understand of Photoshop and its toolsets. 

• Ability to visually express concepts and ideas through drawings and sketches. 

• Knowledge of layout and graphic design practices. 

• Able to finish artwork to a high, commercial standard with a set deadline. 

Beneficial Skills 

• Animation skills 

• Understanding of 3D art packages 

The following are beneficial but not essential for a successful application: 

• A university (bachelor’s) degree in a related field. 

• Three to five years’ experience working as an artist 

• Experience online gaming, video game or multimedia industry.
