#11805 - Software Engineer Workflow Automation n8n

Job Description

We are seeking Software Engineers to support the development, maintenance, and adoption of a self-hosted n8n platform. This role will focus on building workflow automations, developing custom integrations, troubleshooting production issues, improving platform reliability, and working with internal stakeholders to deliver scalable automation solutions.

This is a strong fit for engineers with solid JavaScript/TypeScript experience, Python proficiency, backend and API integration skills, and exposure to both frontend and backend development. Candidates with strong backend and integration engineering experience plus some frontend development experience will also be considered.

Enterprise experience strongly preferred.

Key Responsibilities

- Design, develop, test, and maintain n8n workflows and automations.

- Build custom n8n nodes, integrations, and supporting services as needed.

- Investigate and resolve workflow failures, platform issues, and integration problems.

- Collaborate with platform engineers and business stakeholders to gather requirements and implement automation solutions.

- Improve platform reliability through monitoring, debugging, documentation, and continuous improvement.

- Support adoption of n8n by helping onboard new use cases and users.

- Contribute to a fast-paced engineering environment focused on practical, reliable automation delivery.


 

Qualifications

Must-Have Skills

- Proven experience developing modern web applications.

- Strong proficiency with JavaScript and TypeScript.

- Proficiency with Python.

- Experience with both frontend and backend technologies.

- Strong software engineering fundamentals.

- Experience designing, developing, and integrating APIs.

- Experience working with distributed systems.

- Strong backend or integration engineering background.

- Ability to troubleshoot technical issues across workflows, platforms, and integrations.

- Ability to work effectively with technical teams and business stakeholders.

Nice-to-Have Skills

- Prior experience with n8n.

- Experience with workflow automation platforms such as n8n, Zapier, Workato, or Make.

- Experience with Kubernetes, Docker, and cloud-native environments.

- Familiarity with PostgreSQL and database troubleshooting.

- Experience building AI/LLM-powered workflows and integrations.

- Experience contributing to open-source projects.

Location, Time & Engagement

- Remote contract role.

- LATAM candidates only.

- Must be able to work with U.S. timezone overlap.

- 100% allocation, approximately 40 hours per week.

- Contract expected to run through March 31, 2027.
