Job Description
We are looking for a Backend Software Engineer to support ongoing development, maintenance, and production support for large-scale community product applications. This role will focus on delivering backend features, preserving existing functionality, resolving production issues, and improving system performance and scalability.
The engineer will work on TypeScript and Node.js services backed by MongoDB and Redis, collaborate with frontend engineers and product stakeholders, and help ensure backend services are reliable, scalable, and production-ready.
Enterprise experience strongly preferred.
Key Responsibilities
- Deliver backend features in TypeScript and Node.js services.
- Build and maintain backend services backed by MongoDB and Redis.
- Design and implement RESTful and/or GraphQL APIs.
- Support sprint-scoped engineering work from development through merge and production deployment.
- Troubleshoot production deployment issues and CI/CD-related problems.
- Support production bug fixes, performance improvements, and work-hours incident response.
- Identify and remediate backend performance and scalability bottlenecks.
- Improve measurable production outcomes related to latency, error rate, or throughput.
- Collaborate with frontend engineers, product partners, and stakeholders on end-to-end feature delivery.
- Help maintain existing functionality while supporting new product roadmap work.
Qualifications
Must-Have Skills

- Production CI/CD experience
- GitLab CI familiarity
- Ability to troubleshoot deployments
- General familiarity with containerized deployments
- Backend production support experience
- Experience resolving bugs, performance issues, and scalability bottlenecks
- Ability to work collaboratively with frontend engineers, product teams, and stakeholders
Nice-to-Have Skills
- SendGrid or similar transactional email experience
- SQL experience
- Warehouse database experience
- Snowflake experience
