An enterprise client is seeking a Policy Manager to lead government relations and public policy efforts in Indonesia, with additional expanded focus on Malaysia. This role will focus on shaping regulatory frameworks, building strategic relationships with government stakeholders, and providing on-the-ground insights to inform business strategy in the short-term rental and travel industry.

𝐅𝐨𝐫 𝐭𝐡𝐢𝐬 𝐩𝐫𝐨𝐣𝐞𝐜𝐭, 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐬𝐞𝐥𝐞𝐜𝐭𝐞𝐝 𝐜𝐚𝐧𝐝𝐢𝐝𝐚𝐭𝐞 𝐰𝐢𝐥𝐥:
● Build and manage relationships with key Indonesian government stakeholders, including ministries (e.g., tourism, communications, economic affairs) and regional/local authorities
● Monitor and analyze regulatory and political developments impacting the short-term rental, housing, and technology sectors
● Represent the organization in meetings, discussions, and negotiations with government officials, policymakers, and industry groups
● Develop policy strategies and recommendations that align public policy objectives with business priorities
● Create briefing materials, policy memos, presentations, and official responses for internal and external stakeholders
● Provide real-time market intelligence and insights to internal teams to guide decision-making
● Collaborate cross-functionally with legal, communications, and business teams to align on policy positions and risk mitigation strategies
● Support implementation and compliance efforts related to new or evolving regulations
● Help design and support strategic initiatives, partnerships, and campaigns to build credibility and influence in the market
Qualifications
𝐈𝐝𝐞𝐚𝐥 𝐜𝐚𝐧𝐝𝐢𝐝𝐚𝐭𝐞 𝐰𝐢𝐥𝐥 𝐡𝐚𝐯𝐞:
● 7–10+ years of experience in government relations, public policy, political advisory, or related roles within Indonesia
● Strong existing network and experience working with Indonesian government entities (mandatory)
● Experience engaging with or working alongside ministries, regulatory bodies, and/or local governments
● Ability to operate both strategically and tactically, balancing relationship-building with execution
● Experience in industries such as travel, technology platforms, marketplaces, or regulated sectors (e.g., mobility, tourism, housing)
● Strong understanding of Indonesia’s political and regulatory landscape; Malaysia experience is a plus
● Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English and Bahasa Indonesia
● Proven ability to work cross-functionally and influence internal stakeholders
● Strong research, analytical, and project management skills in fast-paced environments
Additional Information
● Full time, contract role with potential for long-term engagement
● Fully remote with regular interstate and regional travel
● Work will involve regular coordination with global and regional teams across time zones
