Job Description
We are seeking a Sr Data Engineer to support analytics and measurement for internal employee communications channels. This role focuses on designing measurement frameworks, implementing and validating analytics tracking, and translating engagement data into clear insights that help improve communication reach, relevance, and impact.
You will work across multiple communication platforms including internal email, intranet, messaging, and campaign landing pages to analyze engagement trends and develop reporting for stakeholders at all levels. The role requires strong SQL, analytics platform expertise, and the ability to communicate complex findings in a clear and actionable way.
Enterprise experience strongly preferred.
Key Responsibilities
- Define and maintain the measurement framework for internal communications, including KPIs, north-star metrics, and leading indicators.
- Implement and validate Google Analytics 4 tracking for internal sites, newsletters, and campaign landing pages, including tagging plans and event schemas.
- Build automated dashboards and self-service reporting in Looker Studio or Tableau for communication channel owners, campaign managers, and leadership stakeholders.
- Analyze engagement trends across channels and content types, identifying drivers of awareness, engagement, and action.
- Segment performance data by audience, geography, organization, device, and channel to uncover insights and opportunities.
- Run experiments and A/B tests on messaging, content timing, and channel mix to measure impact and recommend optimizations.
- Develop attribution approaches to better understand exposure-to-action paths and campaign influence.
- Maintain strong data quality, governance, and documentation including event taxonomies, UTM standards, and metric definitions.
- Support campaign implementation through targeted data segmentation and audience analysis to improve message relevance.
- Conduct ad-hoc deep-dive analyses to support leadership questions and business reviews.
Qualifications
Must-Have Skills
- Strong SQL skills for querying and joining data across multiple sources.
- Hands-on experience with Google Analytics 4 including events, parameters, custom dimensions, and conversion tracking.
- Experience building dashboards and analytical reporting in Looker Studio or Tableau.
- Strong data modeling and data preparation capabilities.
- Demonstrated ability to interpret data trends and translate analysis into clear insights and recommendations.
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to explain analytical findings to non-technical audiences.
- Experience working with tagging plans, event schemas, UTM standards, and analytics implementation QA.
Nice-to-Have Skills
- Experience analyzing engagement for internal communications platforms such as intranet, messaging, or employee email channels.
- Experience with survey analytics such as pulse surveys or eNPS and combining behavioral and attitudinal datasets.
- Experience designing or analyzing A/B tests and experimentation programs.
- Python experience for data analysis.
