Company Description
John Snow, inc. (JSI) is a US based international public Health consulting firm and manages to project/contract through its integrated office in Abuja, Nigeria. Through the Partnership for supply Chain Management consortium, JSI implements the supply chain management system (SCMS) project for the US Government as part of the United States President’s emergency plan for AIDS relief (PEPFAR). The purpose is to establish and operate a safe, secure, reliable and sustainable supply chain management system to procure pharmaceuticals and other products needed for the care and treatment of person living with HIV and related infections. JSI implements the USAID/DELIVER project, funded by the United States Agency for international development (USAID), a global technical assistance project aimed at increasing the availability of essential health supplies thorough procurement services and assistance designed to strengthen health commodity supply chains in developing countries.
To support the implementation of the health supply chain project in Nigeria, JSI is seeking qualified candidates for the following positions.
Job Description
Provide supply chain leadership in the implementation of the HIV/AIDS supply chain unification projects in the selected states.
Liaise with the state ministry of health leadership in the selected states to provide supply changing capacity building activities to relevant officials in the state.
Work with the state ministry of health to develop a support plan that will enable the appropriate government structure within the states to take ownership of managing part of the supply chain activities in the states.
Lead a team of logistics advisors to provide supply chain support and mentoring to health facility staff in conjunction with the ministry of health.
Lead the establishment and implementation of regional technical working groups that will support and monitor the activities of the unification project.
Serve as the link between the state ministry of health, implementing partners and other stakeholders involved in the unification project to timely provide appropriate feedback on the progress of the project.
Coordinate the linkage between the health facilities; warehouse and distribution service providers to ensure prompt delivery of commodities for service delivery.
Contribute to routine monthly, quarterly and annual reports for submission to program funders.
Contribute to identifying best practices and success stories for JSI. Nigeria’s quarterly logistics bulletin.
Qualifications
Applicants for this position possess the following minimum skills and qualification.
A master’s degree in pharmacy, public health, laboratory sciences, logistics management or business administration.
Seven to ten years of professional experience in health programs, preferably in an international health care supply chain management environment.
Previous experience managing health supply chain contracts with third party services providers in warehousing and/or transportation is strongly desired.
Specific experience in HIV/AIDS, TB, or malaria programs is strongly desired.
Ability to lead and manage a team will be a plus.
Extensive knowledge of the Nigerian public health sector.
Strong analytical and problem solving skills.
Excellent technical writing and oral presentation skills highly desired.
Ability to work as part of a team and to be self managing
Knowledge of Microsoft office packages, including word, excel and power point.
Ability and willingness to travel in the field.
