Company Description
Responsible for supervising, planning and coordinating finance and accounting operations including general accounting, accounts payable, payroll, auditing, treasury management and financial reporting. The Finance and Accounts Manager ensures accounting is complete and accurate, and that timely financial information is reported.
Job Description
.Functions:
- Report financial information in an accurate and timely manner; prepare and provide financial reports as required.
- Manage a variety of accounting functions pertaining to areas such as general accounting, accounts payable, payroll, auditing, treasury management and financial reporting.
- Develop and implement financial policies, procedures and goals.
- Develop, implement and monitor internal controls.
- Supervise the work of subordinate accountants, accounting assistants and other assigned staff
Assign, direct, monitor and evaluate staff work; plan and coordinate professional development activities; implement corrective action as appropriate.
- Complete budget preparation tasks; conduct variance analysis and follow-up with cost centre managers
- Ensure the implementation of appropriate internal controls and procedures including inventory, fixed assets and capital expenditure control, and ensure proper functioning of controls
- Perform all duties and responsibilities in accordance with general accepted accounting principle
Qualifications
Requirements::
- Minimum of a 1st degree in Finance or Accounting is required. MBA or relevant Masters degree is an added advantage
- Professional accounting qualification
- Minimum of 8 years relevant accounting and business experience including financial reporting, audit and tax
- Experience in power or similar industry is desirable
- Knowledge of IFRS
