Job Description

We’re looking for a Senior QA Engineer to help us build a modern, scalable quality engineering practice across our growing suite of applications.

This is a highly hands-on role focused on automation, exploratory testing, regression prevention, and building confidence in production systems as we scale. You’ll work closely with Engineering, Product, Design, and Customer Success teams to identify critical user workflows, uncover edge cases, and build robust automated testing systems that catch regressions before our users do.

Our frontend applications are built with Vue 3, TypeScript, Vite, and Tailwind, with APIs powered by Elixir and Phoenix.

This is not a traditional QA “gatekeeper” role where releases wait on manual signoff. We believe quality is a shared responsibility across engineering teams. Your role will be to build systems, tooling, and testing strategies that improve release confidence without slowing down development velocity.

You’ll help establish and evolve our end-to-end testing strategy from the ground up, including lightweight automated test suites that run against every pull request and broader regression and performance-oriented suites that run continuously and nightly.

We’re looking for someone who enjoys thinking beyond happy paths - someone who actively looks for unintended user behavior, edge cases, regressions, and opportunities to strengthen product quality across the organization.

This role requires strong autonomy, excellent cross-functional communication, and a mindset focused on scalable quality engineering rather than manual checklist testing.

This opportunity is a W2 engagement with an initial 3-month introductory period, with the expectation of continued long-term employment for the right candidate. Hybrid or remote for the right candidate.

What You’ll Do

  • Design, build, and maintain scalable end-to-end test automation frameworks using Cypress, Playwright, or similar tooling

  • Create lightweight smoke and spot-check suites that run against every pull request

  • Build broader nightly regression suites focused on functional stability, user workflows, and performance regressions

  • Partner closely with Product, Engineering, Design, and Customer Success teams to identify high-risk workflows and critical user journeys

  • Perform hands-on exploratory and black-box testing to uncover edge cases and unintended behaviors

  • Develop testing strategies that reflect real-world user behavior rather than only expected happy paths

  • Help improve application reliability, release confidence, and overall engineering quality culture

  • Collaborate with engineers to ensure new functionality is covered by automated testing over time

  • Contribute to CI/CD testing workflows and release processes

  • Help define QA standards, tooling, and long-term automation strategy across multiple applications

  • Investigate emerging approaches to AI-assisted testing, intelligent test generation, and modern quality engineering workflows

  • Identify opportunities for performance, resilience, and potentially security-focused testing improvements

Qualifications

  • 5-7+ years of professional experience in QA Engineering, SDET, or quality-focused software engineering roles

  • Strong experience building and maintaining end-to-end automation frameworks from the ground up

  • Deep hands-on experience with Cypress, Playwright, or similar browser automation tools

  • Experience testing modern frontend applications and APIs in production environments

  • Experience designing automated regression strategies for CI/CD environments

  • Strong understanding of exploratory testing, black-box testing, and real-world user behavior analysis

  • Experience working cross-functionally with engineering, product, design, and business stakeholders

  • Comfortable operating with high autonomy in a fast-moving environment

  • Strong debugging and troubleshooting skills across frontend and API layers

  • Experience identifying functional regressions, usability issues, and edge-case failures

  • Strong appreciation for engineering quality, maintainability, and scalable testing practices

  • Experience mentoring or guiding other QA engineers or developers is a strong plus

Additional Information
