Job Description

Lesaffre is a global leader in the FMCG industry, and we're looking for a dedicated Occupational Health and Safety Officer to join our team as the standalone site lead for occupational health and safety. In this pivotal role, you'll be the single point of accountability for safety across the site, setting the safety direction and building a culture where safety is owned by every leader and employee. You'll combine hands-on delivery with strategic work, shaping and driving our site safety agenda and roadmap while ensuring we meet all legal obligations and parent company standards. Key responsibilities

  • Ensure the site complies with all applicable OHS and workers compensation legislation, regulations, codes of practice and standards

  • Implement Lesaffre Global OHS policies, standards and mandatory rules at site level, and address any gaps against local legal requirements

  • Maintain the site safety management system, including policies, procedures, risk registers, permits and records

  • Act as the site contact for regulators, insurers and external auditors

  • Act as the site subject matter expert and single point of accountability for occupational health and safety

  • Develop, own and deliver the site annual safety plan, objectives and improvement priorities

  • Advise, coach and challenge the site leadership team on safety risk, obligations and performance

  • Manage the end-to-end process for injuries, near misses, hazards and property damage events

  • Lead investigations using structured root cause methodology and implement effective controls

  • Own site safety management and incident reporting system

  • Drive engagement through toolbox talks, safety walks, behaviour-based safety conversations and campaigns.

  • Build reporting confidence so hazards and concerns are raised early and without blame. Coach leaders to hold effective safety conversations.

Qualifications

About you

  • Formal qualifications in OH&S

  • Minimum of 5 years' experience in HS&E within an FMCG and multinational environment

  • Experience in Injury management, Workcover claims and injury management

  • Rehabilitation and Return to Work Coordinator Training (desirable)

  • Experience in working in a Lean manufacturing environment (desirable)
