Job Description

Within the PMO (Project management office) group, and as part of the deployment of a new operations support function, you will be responsible for implementing the philosophy and best practices in planning project and financial performance forecast.

Both strategic and operational, this position will expose you to projects from all markets (residential, commercial, transport, urban planning, hospitals, etc.) disciplines (architecture, interior design, landscape architecture, urban planning/urban design, sustainable development), and regions (Quebec, Ontario, Western Canada, United States) of the organization while stimulating your organizational leadership through the definition of planning processes.

The position may evolve by including aspects of managing a team to be created and put into action.

How you will have an impact

Definition of planning practices:

  • Establish and deploy best practices in project planning and monitoring;
  • Define and establish an effective governance system with the project directors;
  • Ensure the training of designated personnel on the use of the planning software;
  • Work with the software development partner to improve existing tools.

Ensure the planning, in collaboration with the project directors:

  • Participate in the initial assembly of the project schedule and the work breakdown structure (WBS);
  • Act as a planner within several project teams;
  • Set up master schedules according to the needs of ongoing projects;
  • Ensure the rigor of the estimates of future activities.

Project follow-up:

  • Assist project managers in project control tasks;
  • Follow up on deadlines and recommendations that are required in terms of project progress;
  • On a regular basis, produce profitability projections based on the status of projects and the planning of future work.

Team management :

  • Assist the manager of the project management office with the recruitment of planning coordinators;
  • Implement a training plan for new coordinators;
  • Support, coach and develop the team of coordinators in the execution of the processes;

Take charge of the communications inherent in the practice of project planning.

How you’ll stand out

  • Minimum of 5 years of planning experience, preferably in architectural or construction projects;
  • Training in project management, PMP or PMI-SP certification (an asset);
  • Ability to manage several files simultaneously;
  • Versatility, attention to detail, sense of organization and priorities;
  • Interpersonal communication skills;
  • Autonomy and team spirit;
  • As the role is pan-Canadian, fluency in French and English (spoken and written) is required;
  • Good knowledge of MS Project or any other planning software.
