Job Description

What you will accomplish 

The person will support the firm's various project teams in the research of innovative energy concepts. 

- Identify innovative mechanical concepts to create buildings that respect local and national standards (CNEB, ASHRAE,...) and the Zero Carbon Building (BCZ) environmental certifications;

- Be the main contact for the follow-up of the energy system concepts of the projects in connection with the partner engineering firms;

- Identify opportunities for sustainable strategies and propose solutions to projects: envelope performance, passive design, natural ventilation;

- Interest in supporting energy performance monitoring from design to operation;

- Good understanding of energy performance calculations, comfort, and conceptual validations for the firm's projects;

- Propose innovative energy and bioclimatic approaches with the support of simulation tools, particularly in the pre-concept and concept phase for large-scale projects in Canada and internationally; 

- Produce calculation notes, presentations and arguments for internal and external clients of the firm, and project partners;

- Work in conjunction with the senior analyst to develop tools, calculation notes, themes;

- Participate in the development and implementation of Lemay's net positive approach.

Qualifications

What you need     

- University degree in the field of engineering;

- At least 5 years of experience in building mechanics 

- Knowledge of industry software such as: EnergyPlus, Cove tools, IES VE, Equest, RetScreen,... ;

- Good understanding of real estate project development processes; 

- Ability to perform an outreach and advisory role on building mechanics, bioclimatic, Net Zero, Passive House concepts to architectural designers, partners and clients; 

- Basic knowledge of mechanical systems controls and commissioning processes;

- Knowledge of Canadian and American energy codes

- Autonomy in the execution of tasks

- Knowledge of Revit software and various plug-ins (an asset) and programming languages (an asset);

- Member of the Order of Engineers of Quebec (OIQ); 

- Fluency in French and English, both oral and written; b ;

- Good writing skills;

- Good organizational skills, rigor and ability to work in a multidisciplinary team;

- Demonstrate innovation, creativity, autonomy, flexibility and versatility
