Our mission is to support sustainable food production.

For more than 30 years, we have been a global leader in the sale and service of automated systems for successive generations of dairy farmers. Every day, we inspire our colleagues to offer customers innovative solutions and to be a reliable partner for long-term advice and support. With our state-of-the-art Lely Campus in Maassluis and a global network of dedicated Lely Centers offering customized sales and service, Lely is active in more than fifty countries.

Job Description

At Lely, we develop advanced robotic solutions that help dairy farmers work more efficiently and sustainably. Our products range from autonomous feeding and manure cleaning robots to advanced milking systems. Bringing these technologies together requires a strong systems engineering approach, connecting different disciplines to create solutions that work as one.

As a Senior Systems Engineer for our Milking Robot product line, you take a holistic view of the system and guide technical decisions throughout the product development process. You work closely with colleagues from different engineering disciplines and contribute to the further development of Systems Engineering across Lely. We welcome expertise from mechatronics, robotics, control engineering or another technical discipline, as long as you bring relevant Systems Engineering experience.

Your main responsibilities include:

  • Develop and maintain system architecture, translating product needs into system-level requirements and interfaces that ensure the different components work together effectively.
  • Guide multidisciplinary technical decisions from the concept phase through to product release.
  • Connect expertise across mechanical, robotics, control, electronics and software engineering.
  • Safeguard the technical objectives and ensure delivery within agreed timelines.
  • Collaborate with fellow Systems Engineers and contribute to strengthening Systems Engineering practices across the organization.

Qualifications

You have a solid background in technical product development and understand the complexity of bringing different engineering disciplines together. You are able to look beyond individual components, recognize dependencies and support well-founded technical decisions across the system.

You bring:

  • A bachelor’s or master’s degree in Mechatronics, Robotics, Control Engineering or a related engineering discipline.
  • At least 10 years of relevant work experience, including a minimum of 4 years of multi-disciplinary Technical Lead experience in Systems Engineering within product development in the high-tech industry.
  • You are comfortable taking ownership of complex, multidisciplinary technical topics and bringing engineers together to make well-founded system-level decisions.
  • A good understanding of different engineering disciplines, such as mechanical engineering, robotics and control engineering.
  • A holistic mindset and the ability to understand how different components and disciplines interact within a larger system.
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to collaborate effectively with colleagues from different technical backgrounds.
  • Fluency in English.

You do not need to meet every requirement listed below. If your experience and strengths match the role in other ways, we encourage you to apply.
