Job Description

Be part of the future of dairy farming

Are you passionate about dairy farming and ready to make a difference in how farms operate today and into the future?

Lely, a world leader in automated milking and dairy solutions, is looking for a Farm Management Support (FMS) Specialist to join our team in Melbourne. This role is ideal for someone with a dairy background who wants to combine their farming knowledge with technology and advisory work to support farmers across Australia and New Zealand.

As a Farm Management Support (FMS) Specialist, you’ll use your dairy knowledge and practical experience to help farmers get the very best out of their Lely systems. You’ll work closely with our Lely Centers and farmers across Australia and New Zealand, combining your understanding of cow behaviour, farm operations, and productivity with advanced automation and data-driven tools.

This role is ideal for someone with a strong dairy farming background — herd managers, farm supervisors, dairy advisors, vets/nutritionists, who want to step into a professional advisory role with genuine impact and long-term career growth.

You will be the connection point between farmers, the Lely Center advisors, and the global Lely organization, helping to improve farm performance, support robotic transitions, and uplift capability across the network.

What You’ll Do

  • Train, coach, and certify Lely Center FMS Advisors to strengthen capability across the network.
  • Support farmers transitioning from conventional dairies to robotic systems, helping them optimize routines and cow flow from day one.
  • Provide ongoing on-farm and remote advisory support to farmers and Lely Centers.
  • Analyze farm data, herd performance, feeding strategies, and cow behaviour to tailor improvements.
  • Work alongside our Lely Center network, vets, nutritionists, and other farm advisors to drive whole-farm results.
  • Share local insights with Lely Internationally to help shape future product development.
  • Build long-term relationships that support sustainable, high-performing dairy businesses.

Qualifications

We’re looking for someone who genuinely understands dairy farming, the cows, the people, and the daily challenges. You’ll succeed in this role if you have:

  • A strong background in dairy farming, herd management, agriculture, or dairy advisory work.
  • Deep understanding of cow behaviour, herd routines, feed management, and on-farm processes.
  • Ability to interpret farm data and turn insights into practical on-farm actions.
  • Experience with robotic/automated milking systems is an advantage — but training is provided.
  • Excellent communication and coaching skills, comfortable working with partners, farmers and advisors.
  • A proactive, organized mindset with a strong customer focus.
  • Willingness to travel regularly across Australia and New Zealand (with occasional overseas training).
  • An existing network in the dairy industry.

Additional Information

  • Be part of a global leader in agricultural innovation.
  • Help farmers farm more sustainably with world-class technology.
  • Work with passionate colleagues in an international and supportive environment.
  • Access ongoing development training through the Lely Academy.
  • Play a key role in shaping the future of dairy farming in Australia and New Zealand.
  • Laptop, phone, company vehicle (with private use).
  • Annual salary of $80-95k where we like to see room for growth.

If you’re passionate about dairy farming, thrive on solving technical challenges, and want to contribute to sustainable farming solutions, we’d love to hear from you.
