Job Description

Reporting directly to the Head of Safety and Quality at Airborne Solutions, the Health, Safety and Environment Manager - Aviation (HSEM) is responsible for the efficient deployment of the WHS and Environmental systems for Leidos Australia and Airborne Solutions to best meet organisational needs, and to direct, assist, train and coordinate management and employees on the requirements of legislation, regulations and standards.

This is achieved by demonstrating to management and employees that there is an ongoing commitment required and a benefit to ensuring the highest standards of HSE awareness are met. the HSEM is responsible for ensuring & aiding with compliance to legislation / regulations and managing the WHS program relevant to Airborne Solutions, driving continuous improvement and facilitating support to operational departments to meet requirements. Effective teamwork, collaboration and cross-functional coordination is key to success in this position, as you are an integral part of multi-disciplinary team striving for excellence and success. You will be working largely within the Aviation Safety Management System frameworks but will also work directly with the Head of HSE in Leidos Australia to ensure the program is executed effectively.

Qualifications

Possess a suitable tertiary qualification in Health and Safety.

  • Minimum of 5 years’ experience in WHS
  • Have demonstrable leadership and interpersonal skills appropriate to the position.
  • Hold suitable tertiary qualifications in WHS Management or equivalent, or have a minimum of 3 years in a WHS management or leadership position; and
  • Hold WHS auditor or inspection accreditation (3 years’ experience desirable), ICAM investigation qualifications - or formal qualifications in a similar field (or ability to obtain the qualification within 12 months.)
  • Have experience in the development of processes, procedures and technical writing.
