Job Description

You will be part of a close-knit, multidisciplinary team providing high grade design, engineering, support and innovations to a largescale enterprise Solaris/AIX/Unix/Red Hat Linux environment spanning multiple locations, both within Australia and internationally. Your role will leverage your expert knowledge to design, provide end to end build and implementation, system performance tuning, system wide software installation, and support of Solaris/AIX/Unix/RHEL systems.

We will value your input into policies, procedures, and SOP’s relating to maintenance and management of the operational infrastructure and platforms. Interact with technical subject matter experts to ensure delivery is fit for purpose and providing insights and options to create greater efficiency for our client.

Following defined ITSM processes including Incident and Problem analysis and management with technical issues. Performing post Incident reviews and root cause analysis related to the technologies you’ll be supporting.

Specific Functions

  • Manage and maintain the ongoing operational requirements of the client and infrastructure relating to current Solaris/AIX/Unix/RHEL technologies.
  • Implement and test firmware/software upgrades, including security patching.
  • Assist in design, implementation and administration of new infrastructure installations and project related work.
  • Provide solutions to a variety of technical problems of varying scope and complexity.
  • Develop relationships with internal IT groups and relevant business stakeholders to contribute innovations to continuous service improvement plans that drives the uplift of the reliability, performance and efficiency of the underlying platform that delivers the IT Services

Qualifications

  • Relevant certifications or professional membership/working experience relating to
  • Sun/Oracle Solaris 10, 11 (in SPARC)
  • Solaris Containers (Solaris Virtualization)
  • Solaris cluster services
  • AIX
  • Red Hat Linux
  • Security Hardening
  • Satellite and other automation technologies to maintain currency.
  • Experience in other technologies and operating systems would be beneficial to this role.

Experience

Coupled with your education and practical experience, you will demonstrate a pro-active approach with the ability to understand the business, identify issues and develop relationships to achieve the company’s objectives.  You will also have:

  • Substantial professional experience working in a role within an engineering or project environment (preferably in a similar industry);
  • Proven experience administering, configuring and managing large scale automated Solaris/AIX/Unix/RHEL infrastructure solutions.
  • Substantial knowledge and application of a broad range of skills including software, systems and enterprise architecture, software and hardware engineering, interface protocols is desirable.
  • Substantial experience working in a large enterprise environment.
