Job Description

The primary focus of this role will be to perform technical planning, system build, integration, verification, and validation of new and existing capabilities for Defence’s enterprise information systems. Our teams enjoy interesting and challenging projects with plenty of new work and technologies ahead.

Working in a fast-paced environment in a collaborative team with mixed skillsets, you will be leading projects from a technical perspective, with a broad approach to project implementation and integration activities. You will not only lead various projects but also provide support to the team across multiple other projects.

You will tackle unique challenging situations every day, collaborate with Leidos, its partners, and Defence stakeholders. You will be a subject matter expert and advocate to fellow team members on making reliable technical decisions around supporting and deploying large-scale services.

The successful candidate for this role will have strong analytical and troubleshooting skills, experience in integrating multi technology platforms, solid communication skills and a desire to tackle complex problems.

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate in the scoping, planning, implementation, configuration and coordination with various disciplines on projects of varying complexity ranging from Small too Complex to ensure successful execution of the solution.
  • As the technical lead for multiple projects, you will familiarise yourself with the deliverables and key dates of each project to balance competing priorities and manage risk and issues by developing mitigation/prevention strategies. Willing to Lead and direct the work of others; A wide degree of creativity and latitude is expected.
  • Influences development of solutions that impact strategic project/program goals and business results. Recommends and develops new technical solutions, products, and/or standards in support of function’s strategy and operations.
  • Resolves highly complex problems using significant application of technical knowledge, conceptualizing, reasoning and interpretation. Develops solutions that are highly innovative, and achieved through research and integration of best practices.
  • Create and maintain comprehensive project documentation.
  • Coordinate internal resources and third parties/vendors for the flawless execution of projects.
  • Ensure that all projects are delivered on-time, within scope and within budget including assisting in the definition of project scope and objectives, involving all relevant stakeholders and ensuring technical feasibility.

Qualifications

This role does require the successful applicant to be an Australian Citizen and have a current NV-1 security clearance.

As an Infrastructure Engineer you have experience in complex I.T. environments. You have strong knowledge of VMware, Microsoft and midrange system technologies. Knowledge of storage and/or networking is desired. You'll be a team player who thrives in a complex environments, learning new technologies and coaching your peers. In addition you will have: 

  • Strong knowledge one or more of the following technical disciplines: VMware Stack, Cisco UCS/Dell Compute and Microsoft and Red Hat Server/Management technologies is required.
  • General knowledge of one or more of the following technical disciplines is valued: NetApp/Dell Storage Solutions, Software Defined Networking, Routing/Switching and HCI.
  • Must be familiar with a variety of concepts, practices and procedures related to private cloud technologies.
  • Excellent client-facing and internal communication skills
  • Excellent English written and verbal communication skills.
  • Solid organizational skills including attention to detail and multitasking skills.
  • Process Improvement and Planning Skills.
