Your New Role

The Technical Operations Engineer ensures the smooth operation of multi-user computer systems, including coordination with network/system administrators. They are responsible for technical direction and leadership, including the management and development of policies and standards for allocation related to the use of computing resources. Other responsibilities include:

• Overseeing the setting up of administrator and service accounts, maintaining system documentation, tuning system performance, installation and backup recovery
• Providing overall enterprise-level network system administration, planning, and management
• Setting the technical strategic direction and providing advice for managed services related to Endpoints and End Users
• Developing, implementing, and documenting network systems
• Providing technical collaboration and communication for the service lines
• Working closely with projects during all phases of the development lifecycle.
• Co-ordination of technical effort for major incidents or problem resolution, including technical advice and direction for issue resolution
• Provide technical advice to a variety of management and customer stakeholders.

Experience

You will be a seasoned Systems Administrator with strong practical experience and a ‘can-do’, pro-active, approach. You will also have:

• Experience working within a large multivendor environment
• Must have ability to deal with legacy Windows Application compatibility issues migrating to Windows 10 / IE 11, Operating System (SOE) deployment issues
• Proven experience in leading service teams and major incident management experience
• High degree of technical expertise with systems, servers, protocols, Windows/PC based client/server workstations and Server Administration
• Familiar with design, managing, monitoring, and optimizing geographically dispersed networked systems
• Experience performing Operations & Maintenance activities (e.g., installation, upgrades)
• Experience with MS Windows 10, MS Windows Server, Active Directory, Outlook, Microsoft Endpoint Configuration Manager (MECM)
• Windows based scripting (e.g. PowerShell)
• Competent in Windows 10, Office 365, Edge Chromium, SCCM and VMware
• Competent application packaging using thick (MSI) & thin (AppV) distribution methods
• Competent in virtual infrastructure and delivery, 3rd and 4th level support experience.

Skills

Strong communication skills, technical and interpersonal skills combined with the ability to work autonomously as well as contribute as a valued team member including experience and/or working knowledge with the following:

• Active Directory, Network support, VMWare, NetApp, Citrix, End User Support
• Packaging, SOE Build, MECM, AppSense, Lumension, AV, PKI, Print support, Testing and Release management.

Education

• Appropriate degree from an accredited college, or equivalent experience/combined education, with professional experience and specialized training commensurate with assignment.
• Currently possess applicable intermediate ITIL certification (e.g., Service Operations, Service Transition, Operational Support and Analysis).
