Your New Role

We have a permanent opportunity to join our Engineering Matrix to support the delivery of customer programs. In this role, you will write, in clear and concise language, technical documents including operating and maintenance manuals, related technical publications and ad-hoc documentation work in support of the Project and business. Your outstanding interpersonal skills will ensure you verify knowledge by communicating with stakeholders, including technical subject matter experts and engage in advancing new products and service

Your accountabilities will include:

  • Developing technical documentation format that is compliant to contractual agreements, appropriate Leidos standards and the relevant Defence standards (DEF(AUST) 5629C, ADF Writing Manual)
  • Modify existing technical documents (predominately operation and maintenance manuals) in support of the ILS deliverables
  • Evaluate engineering drawings and other technical data as required and translate information into an understandable technical manual or content.
  • Support the Engineering Team (systems, configuration, data and logistics) in delivery of engineering change proposals and the associated supporting documentation
  • Ensuring materials are organised and completed within identified timeframes in accordance with defined standards regarding order, clarity, conciseness, style and terminology
  • Conduct technical document validation through review and proofreading documents to ensure that work produced accurately reflects existing engineering data, following established grammatical and formatting standards
  • Conducting technical document content verification activities including desktop analysis and engaging stakeholders to review the documentation within the defined workflow processes.

This role does require the successful applicant to be an Australian Citizen and be eligible to obtain an Australian Government security clearance.

Qualifications

About You and What You'll Bring

You have previous experience as a Technical Writer, supporting projects to ensure compliance and quality including the following skills:

  • Significant experience in technical writing within a large, complex project
  • Knowledge of Defence technical document writing standards
  • Working knowledge of PLM software, such as ARAS
  • High level proficiency in Microsoft Office suite and PDF software
  • Excellent communication (verbal and written) and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work collaboratively, but can also operate autonomously using initiative, sound reasoning, listening and decision-making skills
  • Time management, planning and organising skills
  • Analytically minded with strong problem-solving skills and hold a high level of initiative and self-motivation
  • Understanding of ILS processes / procedures is desirable but not essential.
